Is there any harm in using the amp with the preamp tube covers off?( i think they are called tube covers?) It's a head, so gravity isnt pulling them out of their sockets. It just seems that the amp is more responsive and more open with the covers off.

I thought the shields provided RF filtering or (shielding) to a certain extent. There's no harm in leaving them off, you just won't get the shielding effect.

They are there for the RF shielding and probably for shipping more than anything else. No problem to run the amp without them.

Well, That was a great thread with lots of good info. I leave mine off, my hearing is so bad I couldn't tell the difference. ;D
