Dear Miles:
Thank you, Zac and all of the other contributors for the great information you provide here.
I have a Maz jr w 2-10's and reverb. I gig 2-3 times a week, smaller clubs and miked when in larger venues. I run the gain about 12:00 and the master about 8-9:00 because that is all the stage volume I am allowed to mix with the band. I have been using JJ's from Eurotubes. I run a Fulltone OCD and a GT-500 (along with other pedals on my board) in to the #1 input on the front of the amp. My power tubes seem to only last me about 3-4 months and they start getting weaker and raspy. Does running the OCD and GT-500 in series for strong overdrive shorten the life of the tubes? Would the Groove Tubes last longer? I am like many others, a starving musician and the GT's cost twice as much and are impossible to find in my area. Thank you for your help.

GT tubes would last no longer than any other tubes assuming that other tubes are matched. Unmatched output tubes can have a very short life and ruin sustain.
3-4 months can be a lot of hours on an EL84. I change them on some amps in as little as 10 shows ... 30 hours ....
I never go more than 300 hours on any EL84 in any amp.

Thank you very much for your reply. I was figuring that if I gig about 4 hours a night 3 times a week that 300 hours would be about 6 months. I am going to try to keep track of how many hours I get from the sets. Maybe I am adding up hours much quicker than I thought. Again, I really appreciate the information you provide here.
