what would be the sonic differences if any with a 8 or 16 ohm cab with the KT-45? and which would make the amp most efficient? also if i dont intend on running it flat out, will a single vintage 30 hold up for home studio/small club work? thanks, PP

The Vintage 30 is a 60 watt speaker so it should be plenty to handle whatever the KT45 can throw at it (which would be some serious volume and air I believe! )

Come on Tas, you seem to be lurking in the KT45 section a lot lately. Any reason why? ;D

The Z-Best is a great cab. It'll sound good with anything. People complain about lugging it but I find it very portable. A lot easier than the old quad I used to lug around anyway! It is a loud cab though. Which is a good thing! ;D

+1 on the Z-Best. It sounds great! If it were easier to haul I'd have one. I've heard very good reports on the ToneTools Fat Cat 2x12 but they're hard to find. Port City Wave 2x12 cabs sound great, too. Those and the Z-Best are readily available. These are all closed back, ported cabs. All well built.

It seems when I'm financial, no one will ship one out and then I spend the money on one thing or another and one just pops up on Evil bay just when I haven't got the funds I've been thinking a lot lately actually about the possibility of a Stingray instead. It could be my answer for a big clean sound without ear splitting volumes. For all my clean "middle of the road" tunes it would be great. I have a few stomp boxes If I needed to could rock out with it as well. I just don't know, my stages are pretty small and I'm thinking unless I really attenuated it heavilly I wouldn't be getting the full potential from the amp.

If you are talking about a cab like a Z-Best with two speakers in it then you are fine and dandy as stock they are a 90 watt cab.

GREENBACKS !!!!!!! Gotta run greenies with a 45, mandatory. believe me thats my gut instinct. a 1960 TV cab is my first choice but the KT was a little pricey so that took some juice outta my cab fund. ill probably cave and make mr. marshall happy. PP
