Just looking for some suggestions for V1 and V2 for my Maz Jr. 2x12 reverb. I have tried the GT12ax7M's and Svetlanas so far. Still wondering about NOS stuff. Perhaps a 5751?

I like a good, screened Ei Elite. I get them from thetubestore. I also like a NOS 12at7 in the phase inverter position. YMMV

I love 5751's in my MAZ SR. I have them in V1, V2, and sometimes in V5. They took the edge off, are very warm, and have a beautiful high end. I have GE 5 Stars in mine. I got lucky and found a batch of 4 of them on Ebay for 50 bucks. The luck continued in that they all work, sound great, and have no problems.
That being said, Mike at KCA, or Doug at Doug's tubes, are both great to work with, and test and stand behind what they sell.
Have fun!

I know this may run counter to all the folks looking for NOS or boutique stuff. I too have tried all kinds of JJ's Svet's etc.
But I have found that in both my Maz 18 and Maz 38, that Groove 12ax7 R1 in V1 and V2 and Groove 12ax7C's on the back end work best. Just a really nice balance. Smooth tone with a very linear break up. I also use Groove #6's in the power section.
I mean I try all kinds of other things. I have five amps, and I am a tone nut too. Two are not Z amps. But I just keep coming back to the Groove stuff. For a gigging musician it gets me 95%-98% of what the boutique stuff gets and they are indestructible.
Bottom line is I get compliments on my tone all the time.
Just my $.02. I hope this helps.
