I am looking for something JTM-45-ish. So from Dr. Z, that would be a Route 66. However I've also discovered Germino amps. He's got a JTM-45 clone. I also looked up Mojave for their clone.
Unfortunatly, all I have to go on at the moment are the audio/video clips. And what knocked my socks off was the Germino played with humbuckers (clip #1 from the Classic 45).
The Dave Grissom clip for the Route 66 sounded good, but a little different. And I know things like mic and mic placement, amp eq and recording eq can play a big role. (not to mention 12ax7 vs ef86)
Can you compare/contrast the Route 66 to the JTM-45 (clones)? Thanks

Thanks The JTM-45 is a great amp but it is not as versitile as a Route 66 or in the case of most originals, not as strong. My own original puts out about 38 or so watts flat out. The 66 is better with pedals. The amps do have some similar abilities but they are far from the same amp. The Germino and Victor Mason (Mojave) amps are both great pieces of work but you can also grab a JTM-45 reissue and slap in some great tone caps like Jensen oil and paper or oil and foil ones .... drop in a Mercury Magnetics output transformer, and Voila ... a great JTN-45. Forget about that work of adding a PTP board to the reissue .... the stock PCB is very simple and not hard to work on whatsoever. There is no need for the added expense and time of a PTP board on the reissue.
