I made the leap and ordered one from Amplified Parts last week. It's out for delivery today, and I'm looking forward to trying it with the Maz 18NR, Z-Wreck, and my Z-Plus. The Therapy will be another one I'm curious to see how this speaker works with. Right now I've got a 2x10 with AlNiCo Red Fangs in it that sounds great with the Therapy. I really want it to work with the Maz 18 though, for Big Band duties. Summer concerts are coming fast and a lightweight, great sounding speaker in the 18NR combo would be really nice. Let us know what you think! I'd say there is definitely more chime and presence in the high end with the Blackbird. Nothing harsh though. It gets nice and crunchy when driven too. You may need to tame the highs down a little on the eq controls with the Maz. I know I had to bump the tone control down a little on my jetta. That worked for me because I wanted some more sparkle. Just a warning, i had to elongate the holes in the Blackbird frame with a round file to get it to fit in the combo on the Jetta. The Maz may be the same. I put it in the Maz 18NR and my first impression is it's really bright and forward...I don't know if I like it or not. I had to open the mounting holes up too. I've got to spend some time with it to really know if it's going to work for me.

The Maz has a lot of chime. You think the Blackbird puts it over the top?

It's a bright speaker for sure. I've had enough adjustment with the eq for it to work well in several amps. But the treble is definitely set lower with it (and the bass higher). If I usually had the treble at 12:00 it might be set at 9:00 w/ the Blackbird for instance.
I'd suggest to keep banging on it for a while and play around w the EQ. Particularly the cut and treble. I found I liked it with the mids backed out some. Going for a very blackface type tone.

I thought it was a little strident and lacking some bass clarity when it was right out of the box, but I put it through about 20 hours of break-in and it's sounding a lot better now. It's a different vibe from Celestion for sure. Today I tried it with my Nova and it sounded really nice when I cranked it up. I'll have to compare it to the Celestion Alnico Creamback when I get mine. With the Nova, I like it better than the Gold. I'm gonna have to try it with my Z-Wreck and see how that works.

Anyone get to compare the 40w and 100w version. Seems the 100w is darker and less aggressive sounding. I know the obvious answer is to get one of each and try them....
