I might have to try a couple of those V jrs. in my 2x10 cab. Right now I've got a 10" Gold and a Red Fang in there. I'd like it to be a little brighter, what do you think?

You'll get get a little brighter tone, they are less efficient than the RF. The JR X2 sounds like a V Type 112 with less bottom but more punch. I switch from the RF 210 to the JR 210 and haven't looked back.

I installed a 12" V type in my home built Allen Hot Fudge w/Nuts and really like it. It sounds way better than the Red White and Blues I got with the kit...much better rock voice.

Recently I go between two greenbacks, or one V Type, or the V Type 2x10. Those Mathers "Shortys" I had build can be open or closed and those V work great either way. My V Type Neo is on back order but I hope to get it in a week or two. Saving it for another cab or even a combo.

The Neo arrived, but I have not had free time to try it out. I'll load it up tonight and see if I can get a moment to try it out.

Looking forward to hearing what you think about it. I'm a big fan of light weight amps. I tried two V Jr 10's in my 2x10 and didn't like it so much, so I pulled one and put the Gold back in. It is a terrific combination.

Dave, I’m trying to remember if you’re running that cab with a z28? What’s the db rating on the 10” V jr’s? I believe you recommended the red fang to me in a previous thread but I’m wondering if I should forgo the RF and pick up one of these instead to try with the 10” gold. There was only one negative review in SweetWater that cited it losing top end: “I put it into a super champ but it ended up being way too warm and full sounding, lots of low end and low mids but the upper mids and treble are not prominent enough. This speaker would fit a bright sounding amplifier that needs more fullness.”

That's what I didn't like about the two V-Jr speakers, they were a little dark. Sensitivity is 95dB on them. I put a Gold in with the V-Jr, and it sounds good. I have an ET-65 10" I'm going to try too. I'm

I haven't tried the ET10, because of that exact tonal eq. Please do let us know what you think about that one.

I think the original VType is a modern classic and mixes well with other Celestion speakers. The Neo is it’s more vintage sounding sibling, great for combos I’d you want a broken in sound that feels and sounds good, also benefits in a sealed back cab to bring it forward a little more. Roots, country music is its happy place.
