Lol, the scariest part of this is that I actually almost bought a Fiero GT back in that era!

I kinda liked Bel Air also. Maybe like BelleAir. Like beautiful decibels soaring through the sky.

I'm also fond of The Scout, my favorite American SUV. I may or may not have one in the driveway. The Corvair makes sense too.

As someone who lived through the Corvair (unsafe at any speed) era, not sure naming an amp after a car that might roll over if a sudden steering maneuver was done, is a good idea.

(unsafe at any speed) HA ! First thing I thought of too. Wasn't that Ralph Nader's first big "whistle blow" ? GTO would be great, but it's probably copyrighted.

Corvair? NOT
A sh!t-box with a rear mounted AIR COOLED engine? Prone to overheating. We had one....ugly pea soup green. (my mom loved it in the snow...I'll say that) Next thing you know, Ralph Nader will show up telling people the amp's no good. (ha ha)
My dad worked for GM at the time and got a HUGE discount. (much better discount than employee discount now) I wish I could take a time machine back to the mid 60's and say "Dad...what are you thinking?? Get something else!"

High performance? As I recall the 0-60 time was measured in minutes instead of seconds.

Just don’t use the Gremlin. Burnt Orange or Puke Green just wouldn’t look right on a Z.

Howdy,
What about Capri? I had a '73 Mercury Capri decades ago. Made in Cologne and with a V6.

I'll not hear you slander my first car that way, sir! Pea soup green '60 with the infamous gas heaters (yes, gas from the tank ignited by an extra spark plug). Never overheated, great snow car. And, if you removed the rear bench seat, you could fit TWO Marshall half stacks in there! I wish I still had that car, but I sold it to get a Toyota pickup so I could fit the PA in there, too. Cars and music gear - so many connections...

Just don’t use the Gremlin. Burnt Orange or Puke Green just wouldn’t look right on a Z. I drove a green Gremlin in high school (hey, it was a car). I think Jon Stewart described the Gremlin best: “The Gremlin was a car that was invented for two reasons: 1) birth control for young males; and 2) so that the Pinto wouldn’t feel so bad about itself.” My best friend had a Pinto. So I can confirm both of Mr Stewart’s comments about the Gremlin are accurate.

As a kid my neighbor had an amazing collection of corvairs, turbos and convertables, show car stuff. The bad boy of the bunch had a hot rodded 350 LT1 in the rear sitting on a tornado transaxle, that was quite a hot rod.
my friend and I both had VW Bugs, and my neighbor and my friends dad helped my friend put a souped up corvair engine in the back of his bug. The motor hung out the back a bit, and that bug had no troubles lifting the front wheels off the ground! Of course the car was very short lived, but definitely cool while it lasted.

My folks had a '60 Corvair, and my mom spun it out on a sweeping turn out in the country. Those cars were light on the front end to start with, I can't even imagine how the 350LT1/Tornado transaxle could be kept on the road! I bet it was fun to drive...
