My son and I want to play around with creating and recording original ambient music. At present, we have to stick with Windows. Any suggestions for software to check out, both for recording and sound generation? Thoughts on audio cards to put in the desktop PC?
Thanks.

Software is a personal/workflow preference IMHO. I use presonus studio one but also like reaper and protools. all have a free version of some sort. studio one comes with a lot of creative tools and I like the interface and drag and drop functions. I have some usb interfaces from Focusrite that i like. lot's of options for the inputs and outputs that you need and sound fine. Have Fun!

+1 on PreSonus, interfaces depend on budget,etc... Otherwise call Roscoe at Cowboy

I have a Presonus Auiobox iTwo...actually have two of them. Great interfaces and Studio One is a great DAW to work with. If a thick head like me can learn to use it, anyone can!
