I am a new CURE owner and I am finding that there are alot of tones to be had between the Volume, Master and Level settings. It is really like setting up you own gain staging...
From My experience;
My favorite setting right now is when the Level is cranked, Master nearly cranked and the Volume around 9:00. This is a big, bold and loud clean setting that works killer with boosts and drives. Also, with the Level all the way up (hence out of the circuit?) you are getting the most interaction with the power tubes (I think).
Also I like the Level and Master around noon and level from noon to cranked. Nasty rock n roll setting but more difficult to use pedals with this set up.
What's you favorite?

Right now mine are: V:2, T:2, M:12-2 (to the room), B:9, MV:10, L: to the room.

Don't know that I've found a favorite yet, but last night at rehearsal I ran the amp with the master dimed, the level at about 11:00 (we're not a loud band) the volume at about 9:00 or 10:00 and the tone bypass engaged. Then I just ran everything from the volume knob on the guitar. Even the cleanest stuff was nice and fat.

I gig my Cure a lot and had it put in a head cabinet, used with a Z 1x12 cab. Volume 9:00, Treble, Mid and Bass all at 12:00, Master and Level cranked all the way up.

Current settings: Volume: 1:00, Treble: 1:00, Mids: 11:00, Bass: 9:00, Master: 3:00, Level to venue. This is a “cleanish” base tone with single coils and a Keith Richards sounding “dirty rhythm” for humbuckers. I’m using a RYRA Klone (always on) and using the guitar’s volume with humbuckers. I stack the Klone with a Barber Gain Changer for single coils. I tend to run OD pedals with the levels up and the gain knobs down...less compression = more dynamics IMO

V: 2:00 T: 10:30 M: 1:00 B: 10:00 Master: 5:00 Level: Venue
Cleans up nicely and responds to boost like a race horse. It's such a cool, lightweight, capable amp. It's my go to rehearsal amp and very capable for gigs too.

I use mainly Strats live and my settings are V; 11, Tone stack all around 10, Master wide open and Level to room (usually 11 to noon). This gets me a nearly clean tone that I can goose with a few OD's. I put a Lil Texas Neo speaker in mine....sounds great and shaves a few lbs (plus it's slightly more efficient).

Many of you guys running your Bass control below noon surprises me. The only thing that I think the CURE could benefit from is more low end. I keep my Bass around 2:00. Maybe I'll try to run it on the low side, maybe I'm missing something!

For clean stuff i usually have my Volume around 7:00 just a little more past barely on. Master dimed, and Level around 10-11.

Volume, Master, and Bass dimed. Treble and Middle, about 3:00 Level, less than 9:00. Conversation levels.
Oh, and footswitch engaged, with knob maxed
WOW! Old-school hard/heavy rock all day at non-deafening volumes

I've been using mine set pretty dirty and cleaning it up from the guitar. I had no idea how I'd use this amp when I bought it!

Just got my Cure within the last couple weeks. Right now I'm running mine with the Volume at around 11:00. Master between 1:00 and 2:00. The level based on how loud I want it at the time. Usually between 9:00 and 10:00. The EQ I have Treble: between 1:00 and 2:00. Mids: A hair before Noon. Bass: 11:00.
This gets me a decent clean to work with to use drive pedals with. Which I'm a huge dirt pedal junkie. Ha!

Are you all using strats with those setups?

Are you all using strats with those setups? I'm, personally, using a Les Paul. I'm also the type of player who likes to set up a "cleanish" tone on the amp and use dirt boxes for my overdriven tones.

I am using a Les Paul too. I'm having a hell of a time getting a good edge of break up tone from the bridge humbucker. It always sounds raspy, unless I turn the treble and/or cut way back, and then the clean sound is dull and muffled. I think the only way around the might be a pedal. Either that or stick with the neck pickup, which actually is working pretty good. So maybe I'll leave the bridge for high gain applications....

Funny you say that.. I noticed a similar thing with the high end. Too bright.. roll back treble.. still too bright.. roll back treble.. sounds dull. This was with my Strat and on the neck position.
I cured it though with a speaker swap.
I tried 3 speakers last night: Creamback M65, HARMA Clear Sapphire, WGS ET-90
Creamback - lost the 'American' voice HARMA - Too dull and bass was reduced too much ET-90 - Slightly less bass and a more rounded tones and a sweeter high
Really enjoying the ET-90. It seems to be a real in-between American/British voicing. It just seems perfect for this amp.
It stays noticeably cleaner with this speaker. Still breaks up but the gain seems to be reduced by 50%. Lovely breakup tones when pushed and great high's with no spikiness.
The inner cone is the exact same size as the original speaker. Just an observation as the others all had much smaller inner cones.
Keeping it in there.

Are you all using strats with those setups? I'm using a Tele and an ES-335 most of the time. Sometimes a Strat or a Les Paul. I set the guitar's volume at around 8 and the amp to a slightly dirty sound (the volume is usually at about 1:00 with single coils- 11:00 with humbuckers) then clean it up or make it dirtier from the guitar.
This amp has a nice level control, but if I set it too low, it'll get a little raspy sounding.

I just posted about my "experimentation" today but my new favorite is Volume 2, Treble 1.5, Middle 11, Bass a hair before 11, Master 11, Level -currently around 9 (of course that can be moved up and down as needed.) Really loving this one. Gobbles up the pedals.

I’ve changed my settings slightly since owning a Cure for over a year now. Not much gigging (not since March) in 2020, but I’ve done several recording projects and actually used a REAL amplifier! 😆
Volume - 1:00 Treble - 1:00 Mids - 10:00 Bass - 11:00 Master - 2:00 Level - to situation
The Cure loves various degrees and stages of pedal gain. I’ve got the RYRA Klone, the Greer Lightspeed, and the Browne Amplification Protein currently on the board. What a champ of an amp!

I've re-dialed my amp in a bit recently and this is what I'm running with currently. Note the only thing I'm really changing based on my current guitars is the Volume. Crazy enough, the tone stack sounds equally great to me from the LP to the Tele. So why mess around with a good thing! Ha! But here you go:
Volume: LP - 9:30 - 9:45 Tele - 11:00 Treble: A hair past Noon Mid: 11:00 Bass: 2:00 Master: A hair past 3:00 Level: Depends on the time of day. Ha! Usually have it around 9:00 though as I'm just playing at home.
This gives me my clean, base tone that I use to stack my drive pedals for my dirty tones.

I dial mine in with the volume knob of My 59 Vintage STRAT PICKUPS set at 5 also both tone knobs at 5 . Then dial the amp in . Leaves me alot of room to minor tweaks from the Guitar.

My settings have changed a bit. Part of it, probably has to do with the new speaker but also experimented with bumping the mids up and the bass back and really liked it. So...here ya go.
Volume: LP - 9:30 - 9:45 Tele - 11:00 Treble: Around 1:00 Mid: 2:00 Bass: 11:00 Master: Almost 4:00 Level: Depends on the time of day. When I can open it up?? WOOHOO!!! Did so the other day to try to break in the new speaker a bit.

Just got my Cure, just beginning to figure out the gain stacking. OP's setting - max Master, max Level, Volume @ 9pm - is a pretty good starting place for cleans.

Also, don't be afraid to do a little experimenting with it. You'll find a lot of great tones in there. When it comes down to it on the EQ don't be afraid of "far out there" settings. Just let your ear be your guide.

I have turn the Level all the way up to eliminate it's effect . then put the volume and tone between 10 and 2 depending on the room size . I use the level alot to control the over-all volume . Taking it out of the picture emits a sweet sound the level slightly limits
