This Nova amp ...... 1) I’ve done several rehearsals and 3 gigs now with this amp with nary a microsecond of concern for not getting what I want out of it as a superb amp with the band. Both with clean channel only and with distortion channel on. Rocks! 2) Just ran it lined up with the StangRay and the Z Wreck in my studio (living room) and it held its own with both, not any one being “better” than the others.
This thing is a monster. Happy rocker, here.

could this be the desert island amp of this lifetime? could be. but then, i haven’t heard the zarol-anne yet, possibly to be named the gotmojo.

Just occurred to me: methinks the way to use this rig is distortion always on, simply dial it up and down for the song type. Hmmmm.

Yup. Agree! No need for footswitching. Let the GV do that job. Well, yeah, that’s been my thang now for 50 years, guitar volume control of distortion, made all the more ridiculously useful with Z’s line of amps. But this Nova distortion channel has some extra “fuzztone” midrange to it, albeit not unpleasant at all. Dialing down the distortion channel volume gives you a different (less midrangy) tone, which is quite desirable on some songs. So it’s a pretty easy thing to reach back and dial down the distortion channel volume to adjust overall tone/distortion, still sweetly adjustable from your guitar volume knob. That’s what I’m talking about! Although a setting of Clean at 2:00 and Distortion at around 11:30 gives me a super usable never-touch-the-amp-again-the-whole-night tone, dialing back the distortion to 8:30 for “pretty” songs and dialing up to 3:30 for “rocking” songs is maybe a system I’m gonna try out in the near future as I let my obsessive compulsive disorder peek through this mellow-cool facade I’ve been maintaining for some years. But then, who am I kidding? Cause really, once you dial in that extra bit o’ smooth distortion, is there really any going back? jj

Btw, wasn't meaning to be snarky with the monosyllabic responses, jj. The shadings that are available via the guitar controls are really incredible when the OD is engaged. This amp sounds "rich".

No snarkiness perceived on this end. Thought it sufficed with the “yup”.
