I sold my Heritage dual p90 to make way for this guy. The Heritage sounded great. But in the end the neck was just too chunky for me. I've had it 3-4 years, time for something new. I played one of these new LP Specials a month or so ago at a local store. I really liked the neck shape and vibe of the guitar. The bound fretboard is a nice bonus in this price range. Ever since then I've been looking at my Heritage like a "dead man standing" lol. Unfortunately the local guitar sold, so I ordered a 7lb 6oz one from Steetwater. Can't wait to let 'er rip. I like the glossy finish too. If I remember right the previous regime Gibson USA specials had no grain filler and were satin. Didn't really care for that look.

Very nice! I think Gibson is doing a good job with the new standards.

Nice one Nicholas! Did you get the set-up to go with it? I had Sweetwater do it to a Strat I ordered last year. Came in excellent and ready for life...

Probably the coolest guitar in their standard US line.

Somewhere in the $45-$60 dollar range. Usually comes up when you click "add to cart".

Somewhere in the $45-$60 dollar range. Usually comes up when you click "add to cart". That seems reasonable. I have a set up process I do when I get a new guitar and enjoy it. They always need a little something after I put on my go to 9-46 strings anyway. I have a fret polish kit I like to use. You can really take your time and get them as smooth feeling as a greased mirror. Even real high end perfectly set up guitars can benefit from it. I also always polish up the nut slots. It's enjoyable for me. Sort of a NGD tradition:)

I just did some research on the in-house Sweetwater set-up. They don't seem to offer the service any longer. Just their usual 55 pt. inspection.
It's good you do your own. I'm a long way from a shop, so I do mine also. Saves money, and gets you in touch with everything about your new guitar. cheers!

My Martin came from Sweetwater ready to play. I had in to have a strap button put on to an acoustic guru and asked him if it needed any adjustments and he said he wouldn’t do a thing. Four years in and still working from that initial work SW did.

I got one a few months ago and I think my other guitars are feeling a little lonely. It’s such an easy guitar to play. I’m very happy with my purchase and hope you are too. P90s Rock !!!

Yesterday was a good NGD! I had to wait most of the day looking at the case. It's in the teens temperature wise, so I had to let it acclimate. What a great guitar! The pickups sound great. Definitely rock and roll. A little rude, which I like a lot. Played great right out if the box. I think tomorrow I'll set it up to my liking and swap out the strings. But it arrived really playable. The finish is unique. In the sweetwater photo it looks mustard yellow. In person it's much closer to a tele butterscotch blonde. And in black and white, it looks, well, white With his new crew: It also came with a strap, a photo of it on the workbench at Gibson, and this super cool little multi tool!

Congrats, Nicholas. That's a sweet guitar, I love my LP Special and wish it was your color rather than the cherry it is. It still rocks.

I actually really love the cherry finish, as well as TV yellow. I didn't have an option as it's only available in the one color. And already having a cherry DC Junior, I'd have went yellow anyway. It really sounds great. Plays real nice too. I like the direction Gibson is going.

Congrats! You're gonna love it. I got a 2014 one about 6 months ago and really bonded with it. They're great guitars.

btw Nicholas, how are you liking the new LP Special? I like it alot. It plays great. All the set up stuff I said I was gonna do hasn't happened yet. Haven't even changed the strings. It was perfect right out of the case. I really like the pickups too. No plans to change anything, except the strings one of these days Seriously it's a great little guitar. Nothing fancy. Just a great player. I'm sort of surprised at this price point they are shipping so well set up, with a bound neck, hard case, strap, multitool, and all the other little stuff. I'm really happy with it.

Glad it's worked out for you, Nicholas. Mine was from a 'special run' for GC, It's a 2011 model year. Bound neck like yours, 2 p-90's. Great sounding guitar, and it has a tummy cut like a Strat on the back topside. I'd never seen that before. Really comfortable to play and I love the P-90s. I just wish my home wasn't so dang noisy, electrically. All my single coil guitars hum like crazy here. But there's nothing like a cranked LP Special P90 guitar. They're so cool. Mine was inexpensive too, I think I paid around $650-700 for it. Love the neck.

Or similar device? I don't get much excessive hum here, other than what I'd consider normal and acceptable. I actually sorta like the p90 noise. Makes it sound electric and alive!

Glad to hear you're digging it. My buddy at Dave's has said positive things about the current Gibson USA stuff, and the price is sure reasonable on these new specials--for now, at least.

Yeah, I can't find any faults with it. It sure sounds the part. Plays well. The Gibsin P90s really rock! Tuning has been really stable. Seems like it has a personality. It definitely scratched my p90 guitar itch.
