I feel that the implications are there, so I figured I’d ask: for those who have had the ability to try both amps, would you say that the Jetta sounds/feels like an updated (or even upgraded - MV, effects loop) version of the Ghia?
The Ghia has always been a favorite amp and I’ve considered another one on many occasions, BUT, if the Jetta is in the same vein, I don’t know if I can pass it up.

Have only 110 ghia to compare so...and my jetta is in its infancy (couple hrs so far). But the ghias tone knob adds bass, were the tone on jetta adds a little different spectrum...more high mids on higher end turned up (just different)...just getting thing run in and already speaker and amp are brightening up,or my ears are getting more accustomed to tones...speaker does add some thump to fill in and is as I hear it a good match for whats going on...but yeah I do hear a ghia in it.Obviously the punch is a little more substantial than ghia, fwiw.

Which begs the obvious question, if the Mazerati is a 30 watt Ghia, then how does the Jetta compare to the Mazerati?

Volkswagen did make both the Jetta and Karmann Ghia, so...

I really don't get the comparison. Yes, they are both Volkswagen monikers and both simple controlled, Z amps. AND YES....they both have Dr Z DNA....but sonically they are pretty far apart. The Ghia was inspired by a Hammond organ reverb amp and the JETTA by a Ampeg Jet or Reverbrocket, so they come from different sonic realms.
The JETTA is a mid range girth, power and depth that the Ghia just doesn't. Not knocking the tried-n-true 'lil Carmen Ghia, just sayin....not in the same wheelhouse in my opinion.
Maybe Doc can weigh in on this....?

Two-year-old thread resurrection alert!
I've recently watched this badass dude's video on the Jetta:
and again I keep wondering about this Jetta vs. Ghia thing. Hear me out...
Not trying to simply imply that the Jetta is a Ghia w/Master Volume because they're different tubes & output. However, if we take the Jetta's MV out of the equation (assuming it's a tone-neutral knob), then we're left with two amps that are simply Volume + Tone. And with only a Volume + Tone interface, the amp's natural/inherent tone curve will play a dominant role in how it's always going to sound.
So my question is--to anybody with experience with both amps--how would you compare the natural/inherent tone curve (or "voice" if you will) of the ol' classic Ghia versus the Jetta (mid-focused vs. scooped, etc., that kind of thing)? And how do you feel that the singular "tone" knob on each helps or limits its overall utility?
