I splurged on a b-day gift to myself! I have a bit of a delay/reverb addiction. They are actually the only effects I have on my board these days. I've been lovin the C'bread Echorec and Bellepoch. I also kept either a Topanga or Talisman reverb in line. I'm hoping this new large, (and rather expensive box) will replace three pedals and be the only effect I need. We'll see. High hopes right! I've barely scratched the surface. But it sounds splendid. The center section of 8 push buttons is really well thought out. It definitely does the super odd and cool things the echorec does, and covers the tape goodness of the bellepoch. Having a built in reverb is cool too. So much more to explore. But so far, I'm really impressed.

Nice!
I have this one or the Dawner Prince Boonar on my short list to get.
Some say this one is better/more flexible.

Nice! I have this one or the Dawner Prince Boonar on my short list to get. Some say this one is better/more flexible. I looked at the DPB. I didn't download a manual or go to in depth with it, but it looks like it has push buttons for each head as well. That seems to be the most logical way to do this. The Echorec for instance has a rotary knob without detents and 11 or so positions. It's pretty haphazard by comparison lol. What's cool about the Volante is the top row of 4 buttons switch on or off each head. Green is on and full volume repeat. Push and hold and it turns orange, which is on but at a reduced volume. Makes it easy to lighten the volume of some of the heads. The bottom row of the push buttons turn on or off repeats for each head. If turned off you just get one repeat per head. If pushed on it turns green and give you repeats from that head. What's cool is the head doesn't have to be switched on to be able to turn the repeats for it! A worm hole of exploration! Really easy to get cool stuff , and I've only glanced at the manual. Tons of fun for sure. And boy, it sounds great!

But, do you need to take a college course to learn how to use it?

But, do you need to take a college course to learn how to use it? Naw man. Not at all. The heart of the pedal seems to be the 8 pushbuttons in the center along with the spacing knob just right of them. Think of it as four separate tape heads. #1 playback head is closest to the record head. #4 furthest away. So assuming the time control was left the same. Head 1 would be a quick repeat. Head 4 longest. #2 and #3 between them. Click on whatever ones you want. Add repeats if you want. The spacing knob only comes into play when multiple heads are selected and controls the time interactions between them. If you just want a standard delay click on head 4. It's just like a really great sounding single delay pedal that way. I still haven't dug into the manual. It's real simple get going with. And lots of room to grow with it if you want to dig deeper. To me, it seems really intuitive. Lots of fun.

Funny. I ordered one of these today while I was at work, and then happened to see this thread. I’m going to test the Volante against my Timeline, which I enjoy, but is just a bit too much/complicated for me. I think I need more intuitive adjustments, and fewer presets/hidden features, etc. As helmi said, I kinda feel like I need a course to really get deep on it, and I don’t really have the time. Anyhow, it should be here sometime next week. Hopefully by Wed., so I can play over the long weekend.

Lol...I can't order one now as I'm on an 'embargo; by my wife for Xmas Lol...I know she won't be getting me one of these but I have to comply! I also want the new Wampler Terraform but have to wait.

Looks great. I finally gave up on the multi delay guys. I have no desire to program pedals. I also had issue with some delays that had simple controls. I loved a handful, but it was too easy for them to run away into oscillation. I finally came across Wampler's The Doctor and it's never leaving my board. Between that, my DD-3 and the Red Panda reverb I can do it all. I know, that's three pedals, but they don't have to be programmed!

Would love to try one eventually. Weren’t they supposed to come out with a second model that had stereo?

I tried a lot of reverbs, and had almost decided that I didn’t like it. The Context is so great. The first pedal that I was pretty sure would never leave my board and it hasn’t. I’ve never seen any thing about a stereo version, but that would be cool.

Had a little time to mess around with it this afternoon. Super cool! And way more intuitive than I had figured. Simple to get a "regular" delayed sound, and the weirder stuff is right there, too. I think I'm going to get a multiswitch plus to take advantage of presets, etc.

Alright. I've had a couple weeks now to mess around with the Volante. It's fantastic. So much easier to get the sounds I'm looking for compared to the Timeline. I got that Multiswitch plus, too. I've got it set up as a preset switch, which means I have 4 presets (3 on the multi switch, plus the favorite switch) plus whatever is dialed up at the time. So, I've got a sort of standard tape delay, a long studio delay, a dotted eight type thing, a really weird one for swells, and then a cool long drum echo. And its really easy to setup/dial in. I love this thing. Only issue was I had to play a little compressor Tetris to get everything on there. Obligatory new board pic:

How exactly does it work? I'd use it as presets too. If set up as presets, does tapping one button turn on and off each delay? I was thinking about setting the volante on my amp and just running the multi+ out front. Would it work like that? Or do you have to turn the effect on/off on the Volante itself? I'm finding cool sounds all the time. It's really great and simple.

I'm glad to hear you can (apparently with the help of another footswitch) have 4 presets.
This has been my biggest complaint with a lot of these pedals. They can have fantastic sounds, but you can't save/program a lot of them. This may be fine for the studio, or home alone....but for playing gigs, it's not good. This day in age, you can (or at least 'should') be able to customize sounds for a particular song, or portion of a song. So to have a pedal that doesn't...especially one so expensive...strikes me as odd. You don't need 100 patches...but to have 5-10 would be nice.

Yeah, the additional switch seems like it would really open it up. But it does come with quite a bit of storage built in. The way it works is you can store one preset to each of the 8 playback / feedback buttons (they double as presets 1-8) While you can't push them with your feet, you can access them by pushing and holding the favorite switch for a second and also pushing one of the 8 preset buttons. Then that stored preset becomes linked to your favorite button. So you can always switch between the actual knob settings, and one of eight stored favorites. A cool bonus is when you push and hold the favorite switch one of the 8 preset buttons lights up red which quickly shows you what preset is currently attached to the favorite switch. So you could select different delays live between songs. But the optional switch seems to be the better option for a live performance. It selects whatever you have stored to playback buttons 2,3 and 4. I just play around at home. So it's been pretty good as is. Edit* another cool feature is adjusting a preset. With all the options to craft a delay, it's easy to forget how you made the preset if you ever wanted to tweak it a little. If you select the preset via the favorite switch, you can see how the knob positions were saved. Just twist each knob. When you pass the position it was saved in the favorite light turns red. So it's easy to recreate exactly, then tweak and re save if you like.

I understand the 8 presets...but without the ability to access them during a live gig...they don't seem like presets to me. Or at least my idea of what a preset should be. It's a floor pedal, I'm not bending over in between songs...or worse yet: in the middle of a song....to change patches.

I'm finding cool sounds all the time. It's really great and simple. Nicholas - I'm pretty sure you can run the multiswitch that way. If you hit "A" the Volante turns on, goes to favorite mode, and selects that preset. If you hit A again, the Volante turns off. But, if you do it that way, you'll lose access to the knobs (unless you walk over to the Volante and turn off Favorite), and the regular Favorite setting. So you'll be down from 5 to 3 presets.

It's a floor pedal, I'm not bending over in between songs...or worse yet: in the middle of a song....to change patches. If you needed just 2 presets in a song, it would be fine. Switching which of the 8 presets that comes up on the favorite switch is literally a 2 second job. If you need more than 2, you'll want/need the multiswitch. One of the interesting thins about the multiswitch is that it will work on a couple Strymon pedals at the same time. And you can program settings for up to three pedals at once. So "A" is turn on delay preset + low gain drive from the Riverside, or something like that. This video explains way better than I can.

Cool ! Lemme know what you think. I totally dig it. ..... I think I'm going to get a multiswitch plus to take advantage of presets, etc. I snagged a multi switch + too. Really useful with the volante. I have the MS+ set up for (A) a slap back, (B) a longer delay with repeats and a little reverb, and (C) is a little more intense version of B with more repeats, tape artifacts, and reverb. Those are my 3 basic delays. Then I use the fav on the pedal for accessing some of the over the top programs I've been fooling with. This is a great pedal. Super happy with it!
