I'm looking for a really really nice HSS strat-type. I play an EBMM Cutlass at the moment, it's the SSS version. I've decided I don't like Humbucker neck pickups, but I love humbucker bridges. So an HSS seems like the best option for me. I'd keep my current cutlass just so I could have SSS if I wanted to.
I just have a hard time finding a decent HSS that is fairly balanced between the Humbuckers and the Singles. I like the feel of my Cutlass, but I hate owning two of the same instrument, and I love trying new things. But nobody around here carries Suhr or Tom Anderson guitars, so I'm looking for people with experience playing all 3 (if possible). I'd just like to know the biggest differences between the 3 as far as how they feel and sound.
Build quality, finish quality, body/neck comparisons, and tonal differences are the biggest things I wanna know about the Suhr and Anderson. I own a Cutlass so I know how it feels and sounds, just not compared to a Suhr or Anderson.

I owned an Anderson Drop Top Classic in HSS configuration a few years back. It was amazing in every detail. Fit and finish were perfect! Balance between the singles and humbucker seemed spot on. My only complaint was that it just felt a little sterile to me. Sounded really great but just didn't seem to have that magic dust sprinkled on it that makes some guitars incredible players.
Never owned a suhr, but every one I have played I had a hard time putting down.
I think that it may come down to preference. The Andersons to me seem like finely tuned Italian sports cars and the Suhr's seem like beautifully updated classic American muscle cars. Kind of like a full resto-mod if that analogy makes any sense.
The best, by far, HSS guitar I've ever played was a Grosh Electrajet. Simply amazing!

I've played all three brands in stores and really liked them there.
I finally took a couple EBMM's home and really didn't bond. I like the finish on the neck, but didn't like the size much. Really didn't care for the pickups (HSS).
My most recent guitar purchase earlier this year was a Suhr. I can't say enough good about it. I literally haven't touched my other electrics in months. I like the stock buckers a lot, and I never really cared for any of the Gibsons I've owned over the years.
The Andersons I've played are out of this world. I almost had a Tele with a HSS set up, but it was a Canadian shop and surprisingly Reverb isn't set up to convert Reverb bucks. I didn't want to mess with cashing out the bucks and then paying the shop in USD. I do wonder what that guitar would have played.
EB have nicer necks than the average Fender or Gibson. Anderson and Suhr have necks that you don't want to put down.

Have you looked into a Music Man Luke 3 ? That might fit your bill, especially if you like your Cutlass, want something similar but not the same. Willcutt has some nice family reserve versions in stock.

I have had both Suhr and Tom Anerson.....Anderson gets my vote for workmanship, playability and quality of sound

I'm also def in the hunt for an HSS. I'm "patiently"(?) waiting for these to be released this summer: (though not true single coils, the middle and neck pups seriously seem to deliver that "single coil sound" plus the bucker benefit of hum cancelling...)
