Almost every guitar I've ever owned has needed to have the nut slots cleaned up and polished. Especially in Stratocasters or any tremolo guitar without a locking nut, it's critical to have a nut slot that is properly angled, sized, and polished to have tuning stability.
I use it on all of my guitars and you can make the nut so stable with it that you can bend the string behind the nut to where the note is 1/4 step or so sharp, and it returns to perfect tuning when you release the bend. Cures 90% of tuning issues for me.
Try pulling the string sharp behind the nut of any of your guitars, and chances are that it won't return to perfect pitch, indicating binding. Sometimes a little lube on the nut will fix it, but it always helps to clean it up with a little work. Be careful though; it's a lot easier to remove nut material than it is to replace it! I usually finish the job by polishing with some 1500 - 2000 grit wet or dry sandpaper folded over a feeler gauge.

I have a roll of this stuff and it's useful for so many things!
