I ordered a combo cab from Mather to allow my Wreck to be converted for smaller venues. I found a good price on a 16 ohm Gold but, and now that I look at photos, it seems Doc uses an 8 ohm Gold from the factory. Can any one confirm?
My thinking was that since the 2x12 cab impedance is 16 ohm I'd match the combo impedance in the combo...maybe I got it wrong. I have to wonder if there'll be a huge tonal difference between 8 and 16?

You should be OK either way... I believe the amp chassis (whether in combo cab or as a head) has all three 4 - 8 - 16 outputs so it'll still work perfectly fine. As far as any differences in sound between 8 vs. 16 ohms, that's a big question that's never really been definitively proven in most people's ears. In fact, there's another thread about that lately here: ztalk.proboards.com/post/911314/thread

The combo I just sold (less than a year old from Sweetwater) had a 16 ohm Gold as the stock speaker.

I've had the Wreck long enough to know the amp has "it" going on but none of us are getting any younger nor am I in a position to have someone else schlep my gear (yet?!?). It'll be fun to have both "footprints" and experiment! Dave ...and yes...Doc's "fine" is my "incredible" as well! :-)
