Well, this can be a money pit pretty quick However, i am paying attention to everybody's replies and a lot of these I will get. Right now I have the (i) new Way Huge Aqua Puss 'Smalls' enroute (will be here next week) and I have ordered a (ii) Way Huge Supa Puss that I have to wait on at my dealer. The Boonar seems cool but i did not pull the trigger yet as I'm trying to decide between the Volante & Boonar. I'm leaning Boonar, though, as I like the vibe (even though the Strymon is likely more flexible.). I found a Canadian dealer that has a Greer in stock. Such a great pedal and exactly the quirkiness i was looking for. Love the packaging it comes in (see clip below). Will likely order this one by tomorrow. Thanks for all of the recommendations guys...these will not fall on deaf ears...I just can't buy them all the same time!

I saw at least one other comment recommending Analogman. I echo the sentiment that the ARDX20 and Amaze1 as being must haves. And the pun is fully intended.

I'll have a look to see what this one is all about. Since starting the thread I've received a Wage Huge Aquapuss 'smalls' edition, I have a Supa Puss on order and I have tracked down a JHS Pink Panther ! The next on the list is the Greer Black Tiger and a WAZA DM2. Ive looked at some great delay pedals but some are too involved. Looks like I'm going to get a Boonar over the Volante too. Even though the Volante may be ''better', the Boonar is just simpler...and still sounds great.

Also, I nearly forgot, but the Crazy Tube Circuits Time MkII is pretty cool. Your dry analog sound passes through and is retained untouched. The repeats are the only signal that’s digital. In other words, your warm analog tone going in is unscathed, while you get the crispness of digital repeats.

I have a Catalinbread Belle Epoch I'm very happy with, but I thought I saw you had the echoplex clone covered. There is a Catalinbread Montavillian on BST for a good price. They also make an Echorec which is pretty trippy.

In Montreal for the weekend and found a new Pink Panther pedal at a local shop.
I wanted the ‘cease & desist’ Pink Panther version so this was a great find

This is one of the coolest and best sounding delays I've heard in a while. Covers a lot of ground and four presets to boot. I shall own one soon .

I know you mentioned not being interested in vintage pedals, but I bought an '80s DOD FX90 for $20 and it is the most "musical" sounding delay pedal I've played. The definition between the note played and the delayed note is great. Unfortunately, it's kinda noisy and the delay time is really short.
I just sold my Belle Epoch. It was really cool, but I like the FX90 better.
I use a BYOB digital delay on my pedalboard. BYOC initially released it as being a digital delay that sounded like an old Ibanez analog delay (AD80?) I liked it better than my old Ibanez AD9 and sold that pedal. It's a keeper for me.

My local shop just got a Chase Bliss Tonal Recall RKM in.....hmmmmmm.
Pricey but looks like a great pedal.
EDIT: Bought it.....So now the delay purchases will slow down for a little while 😎

How many have you connected at once, Keith? And remember, you have to do series and parallel...

How many have you connected at once, Keith? And remember, you have to do series and parallel... One at a time ! I love the vibe of delay...especially with modulation. Not a bad haul for the first few steps in the quest (the last 2 months or so).

I was a delay junky for a long time. Tried a ton, had about 1/2 your list on my board at one time or another. Tend to always have two delays on the board. A short digital slap back and a more analog flavored for longer stuff. Biggest lesson learned? I have to have a Boss DD-@. The 20 was way too much and never used most of it. I’ve had all the single digits, but after buying a DD-3 for the third time I’ll never part with the current one. Took me longer to finally settle on the second. Wampler’s the Doctor is soooo good. It does everything so well, but I really like how easy it is to keep it under control with crazy ambient repeats. I went through some Caitlinbread that got some great delays, but found them finicky. I could get a great tone dialed in in rehearsal and then it would be gone. The line between not enough and way too much was too often a tiny turn of the knob. The Doctor is the longest delay I’ve ever owned.

I enjoyed the dd3 for a long time but ultimately sold it in favor of delays with tap tempo. Currently have the El Cap and Nemesis. I found that I always need a good, but simple short delay. I've had double more "features" delay but always found myself setting one as a slap back. Maybe at the next Z-Fest there can be a mini-DelayFest for everyone to mix and match.

You need one of these, Keith, or a modern pedal version.

You need one of these, Keith, or a modern pedal version. Cool. I actually have a couple of the digital emulations on the short-list. The Greer pedal recommended above is one and the Old Blood Noise Black Fountain is another I'm looking at.

I've since picked one of these up How is it?! Lol, I'm not going to lie! I've plugged in to try it and played with some settings. I haven't tried any of the dip switches! The pedal is great (even in its basic form). No pristine repeats here. There are also some wacky sounds and I'm not even sure how I'm getting them. Definitely need to spend time with the manual. Edit: Your question spurred me to plug in for 20 minutes. The pedal is neat. To get normal sounds you need to keep the mix & modulation low. Some things get wacky (in a neat sense) as you increase the control and that's without using the dip switches. It's a wonderful, warm delay. It doesn't need to get wacky if you don't want it to. Is it expensive. Yep, and you can get similar basic sounds with cheaper pedals but it's the other stuff that puts this pedal over the top. This pedal really wants to self-oscillate!

Added to my collection! Played it on a house made amp at a small shop here in SoCal with an underwhelming tele. Sounded great still!. It was on a tweed deluxe circuit. I know it’s gonna sound ace with the z-lux. The Jam Delay Llama nails it as far as analog chewy goodness. This added to my El Capistan and Diamond Memory Lane JR may just round out the delay collection for now. Jam pedals are just killer. Definitely my favorite builder at the moment.

Between this post and some other memories I pulled the trigger on the big old MXR yesterday. When the Rolling Stones Emotional Rescue record came out is the same summer ('80) I got my first Telecaster. I was playing in a pretty heavy band at the time. The guitar really opened my mind. This song in particular. I was on tour and I had a cassette and I kept rewinding it over and over. I found out the MXR was what Keith was using. He still uses it. I had one. It got stolen. Excited to get it back!

Similarly, I've always like the sister to this pedal (the old MXR 117 Flanger) and have always been tempted to pick one up. May have to put it on my list. Nothing sexier than a pedal with its own power cord !
