So you've probably seen my post saying goodbye to the Monza (and hello to the Maz). Well last week I received the brand new Red Maz 18 NR MK II. Two days later I played it at a gig -- without playing it will the band prior. All I can say is: I FREEKIN love this amp. It is giving me everything I wanted from the MONZA but just couldn't get. Notes clear. Tough as nails with the crunch. No pedals the whole night and it gave me move drive/crunch/gain than the Monza. And it was clear and defined. Anyway, more bragging another time Here is a clip from rehearsal last night on a song we just started working on, showing the Maz MK II straight with only the Buddy Guy Wah. Man the wah was singing with this amp and the Keith Holland custom strat style (Suzanne). I think I kicked on the variable bypass switch too (And damn that thing is sweet!). Forgive the looseness of the song in progress I've been longing for this tone for so long, with leads that sing. And now I found it! Oh and listen with headphones for the full Maz saannnnnging! Sounds great, I love mine. I just got home from gigging it in an outdoor concert in the park. It sounded great with my Firebird but it likes ALL my guitars. So versatile and I can get any tone I need from it. People ask me about it and can't believe it's all coming from two EL84 output tubes.

I have the Monza, the older Maz 18 NR combo, and now this Maz 18 MK II head. I played the combo at rehearsal today, and to me the MK II is so much better. I need to use a Timmy pedal on the combo to get the dirt I want out of it, but the MK II gets it all right from the amp. You've outdone yourself on this one! The Fonz

I have two gigs this weekend that I'm looking forward to rocking with the MKII. Last weekend I played the KH Strat style and KH LP style guitars all night and the whole gig was just bitchin! I was blown away that I got that much drive without any pedals and I was only at noon on the volume (the Maz combo needs a pedal to get that drive). I should have gotten this thing a long time ago!

If the places I play were bigger and my 67 year old back were stronger, I would take my Maz, my Z-Lux, and my Zplus and use them all at every gig. The most agonizing decision I have these days is which amp to take with me. I love all three of them and they work for everything I play.

Great tone and playing Fonz! I have an older Maz18. I've been on the fence about sending mine in for the updates. (I don't know why) I love my Maz now...so I guess that's why. Thanks for sharing the clip! It may have cost me some $ to listen to it!

Thanks, Ron. Funny thing is I was thinking about having my Maz 18 Combo converted to the MK II....but it's not red and I needed RED! Haha. Here's another little solo clip without the wah this time. Just straight amp. I'm not as loud as the other guitar guy (he's using a Trans Atlantic -- his is more clean than mine). Still learning this amp and the boost pedal, etc, but I love how tough it is on the solos and the chunky rhythm underneath his solos I start the clip and we trade off, then I end it. Fun song. Even funner amp! Mary Jane's Soloing - DR Z Maz 18 MK II Use headphones
