I recently converted my 1x12 combo to head and put the Blue in a Z convertible 1x12 cab (which I run open back). I like my tones Soooooo much better for some reason?!?! The highs are clearer, the low end is tighter and it's more articulate (or percussive) vs when it was a 1x12 combo. And I find the exact opposite of my Stingray that I swapped with. It was in the head, but I moved it to the combo cab (was originally a combo, so I already had the faceplate). Before, it was missing some of the "mojo" I love about a Ray.....But after the move to the combo cab, and putting the ToneTubby Red in, it sounds much better as well (but weights about 10 pounds more than the Maz combo weighted. Just passing along some info

I did try a switch (maz 18 cab) to a "after mrkt" studio cab...it lost its mojo...just didn't sound right...nice cab...but? back it went in z cab...will say that a head/cab is probably another animal all together I guess.... and someday would like to try...

I've owned 3 Maz Jr with reverb. One combo and two heads, all version 1 with Z convertible 1x12. They all sounded a little different, but not enough for me to prefer one over the other. Never turned one into something it originally wasn't, head-to-combo etc.

I wouldn't turn down either setup for a gig!
