I never knew this amp existed until I heard z mention on an AMA video. Are these still available or retired? if available, where can I get one.

They are no longer produced. It was replaced by the Z Plus. Try looking on Reverb. Welcome to Z Talk.

The Maz 8 is a killer little amp - they don't come up very often just for that reason. That said, they have been showing up recently on Reverb like Bill said. Doc's amps are made like tanks so chances are high that it'll be a good one.

I have both the Maz 8 and a Z-Plus they are both fantastic amps! The Maz 8 has the pentode/triode modes which both feel and sound different, the Z plus has full and half power which to new sound the same but half power breaks up earlier, and is quieter. I was always afraid the Maz 8 wouldn’t be enough amp for my needs, while the 18 was too much... I was wrong the Maz 8 fills our 300 seat church with sound no mic needed. I love both!

I too have both amps and I wouldn't give up either one. They're both very gig-able and If I had to sell one I would be really hard pressed to pick between them. The Maz 8 may be a little more on the British side while the Z-Plus is more American flavored. But they're so flexible that I can substitute either one for a gig and get just what I need. Both clean up well and both have great overdriven sounds. Really great amps, full of harmonics and sweet, fat TONE.

I'm working up material for a "rock 'n' roll party" gig in late July. The MAZ 8 in triode and a Tele made a perfect practice at home set up.
