Hi guys Iam thinking about ordering my first Dr z amp (a z plus) and I am curious what the volume is like in full power mode and is there much gain on tap for more overdriven blues and rock stuff?. Thank you.

Unless you're after a really saturated, high-gain sound, my answer is "yes". I've used the Z-Plus, sometimes in half-power mode, to play bar gigs. (Our repertoire is a mix of blues, blues-rock and classic rock: Allman Brothers, Clapton, ZZ Top, Freddie King, etc.)
It's important to dial in the amp using your ears, not your eyes. Also, it's front end is similar to Dr Z's MAZ amps. You can find a bunch of ideas about setting up the amp by clicking on the link below in my "signature". This refers to the MAZ 18 specifically, but many of the tips carry over to the rest of Z's amps with similar designs.
Fwiw, I do use pedals to shape tone, overdrive character and so forth.

Thanks man my heart is really set on the z plus , I play through a Fuchs single ended class a amp but the distortion is a bit compressed and saturates . I'm hoping the z plus with its parellel class a design will yield better results.
Thanks heaps.

To me, the Z plus is smoooth as silk. Not compressed, but open in a really pure way. It’ll overdrive with humbuckers as much as you want it to in certain settings for certain. It’s so dynamic and touch sensitive, that it’s really the only amp I play through now. Just fantastic.

It is a great amp, fat with 2nd order harmonics (single ended output design) and with the two 6V6's in parallel it gets loud. With the Volume cranked it gets some very nice overdrive going on, I love playing gigs with mine. And it responds to pedals well too.
