After owning 2, for a total of 5 years, after 5 different speaker swaps, 5+ different sets of new mfg and NOS 6v6s and easily double as many preamp tube combinations, I've come to these conclusions. These are "for me, my style" conclusions, but I stand by them.
It's best with strats and teles. It's best clean or at the edge of breakup. Nothing takes (certain) overdrive pedals better. The Z Brake Lite is essential, and doesn't affect amp tone at 1 or 2 clicks.
Thoughts?

I agree with everything but, the brake! We Don't need no brake!

I agree with all statements man!
The only thing I would add is that my PRS Stripped 58 with 57/08s and my gretsch sounds phenomenal through this amp.
My suhr Classic t pro and AVRI with Lollar sounded great too. Basically, all guitars sound great, just gotta adjust settings on the amp a bit. I play mostly clean live, but the overdriven sounds are just great!
This amp just inhaled pedals.
My favorite drives with the z-28: Snouse Black Box 2, Timmy, fulltone ocd, RC Booster v2
Takes modulation and verbs like a champ.
Whenever I consider trading or selling the amp, I turn it up and reconsider. The only amp I’ve played through that makes me melt is anything two rock. I can’t justify $4k for an amp.

To be clear, it sounds it's best with no Brake Lite, but if you're gonna gig it, the BL is worth its weight in gold.
Other than my tele and my strat(both G&Ls) I have a dual p90 tele with Wolfetone pickups and a Les Paul with Burstbucker Pros. I can dial in great tone with both, BUT, the strat and tele always seem to sound better.
The Z Drive pedal is amazing in front of a Z28.
