I am having trouble with my Tube Tape Echo. It only repeats once or twice with everything all the way up. I changed the tubes and no difference. Changed to a new tape cartridge and think I got a slightly louder repeat but still only one or 2.
I made a video per the instructions on the Fulltone support site last week but no response yet. Anyone had issues with a TTT and any success with Fulltone?

Is it under warranty? I've never had a problem with Fulltone NOT being prompt with a response. Usually it is Mike himself that responds. Once I had a question about a product and posted it on their site at 1:00 AM. Mike answered me 30 minutes later. I wonder if they actually received the video.

Mine has been back a few times. Once for upgrades and twice for the dreaded "tape-eating" disease. I'm a bit gun shy to take it out now so it only sees the sun when we record. I miss it live.
Have you demag'd and cleaned the heads?

I wouldn't wish corresponding with Fuller on my worst enemy. If there's a 180 degrees difference from Dr Z's customer service it would be Fulltone.
**I would recommend finding tech that works on recording gear.

Have you demag'd and cleaned the heads? It came with everything I would need, including a demag machine. I did the demag and had previously cleaned the heads.
I have a dropbox video I am trying to share. Hopefully it works....

I had my amp guy look at it and he could not figure it out :-( I am so hoping I don't have a $1000 box of spare parts.

Plenty of recording studio tech’s in your area.

I saw the video, I couldn't get a sense of what was going on. Did it ever work for you in the past?
What about those little knobs that the guy messes with in this video?

The small knobs are all the way up. They control the record level as well as the frequency of repeats. With everything all the way up I should play one note and it should oscillate and feed back due to continuous repeat. There is something where the erase head (processing) is erasing too early would be my guess.

These guys are in your area. They service electronics and recording equipment. An amp tech won’t necessarily know how to work on the record/play side of the unit.

I had a run in w a brand new ST amp switcher. The email thread is too long to post here but suffice to say I won't be buying anything else from them again. The unit which was faulty was replaced with a SECOND. Clearly labeled on the box so I can't resell down the line without losing money. I made three videos of my issue to demonstrate BTW. I was taught "the customer is always right" but that doesn't hold water for them. Good luck with your issue.

I had a similar experience with Mike and it was because I bought a pedal from him that I didn’t bond with and returned it. He was very condescending and arrogant about it. I have purchased quite a few of his pedals over 20 years and now I feel the same way. I won’t buy his pedals now I can’t support someone who acts like that.

I had the same experience with Fuller way back when. Bought a '70s fuzz that was just noisy as hell. I called him and all he did was berate me that I didn't know what a good fuzz sounded like or should behave. He is one arrogant SOB, he thinks he shits gold. He does have some good products, but he should hire someone with more patience to answer the phone.

I have a Clyde wah and a Supatrem from him. I consider myself lucky in that they work and I don't have to deal with him. There are far too many stories of the abuse like mentioned above out there that I will ever buy his products again. I purchased my two aforementioned pedals before I read of his antics. I consider myself having dodged a bullet. I won't put myself in the line of fire again.
i hope you are able to successfully sort the problem out.

I have heard many stories of bad "customer service" experiences. I guess I can consider myself to be lucky that mine have been good. Actually I have never had to return a product or have it serviced. All of my contacts have been just asking for information. I agree his responses were sometimes "short" and that he assumes that you are ignorant about the most basic things. I don't know if he has become that way from endless dealings with problem customers or it is just his natural trait. I won't let that deter me from buying his products. I'm very pleased with my Mini Deja-Vibe.
I've worked retail and also dealt with "warranty returns". I don't have the temperament for it either. I realized it and stopped.

I remember a vid from a couple years back where the presenter was interviewing different pedal manufacturers. One of the questions he asked everybody was something to the effect of "name a pedal someone else makes that you really like / wish you had come up with". All the other guys talked about how great this or that pedal was, but Fuller essentially said everyone else's stuff was crap, and he wouldn't bother listening to any of it. Big turn off, and I decided then and there not to buy anything from him on principle alone.

Anyone had issues with a TTT and any success with Fulltone? Did you mess around with the tension arm spring? That can create, and fix a lot of issues. I'd suggest cleaning and de magnitizing the heads. Then see if it gets any better. I used to have to do that every few months. The suggested cleaner and de mag is in the manual. Good luck with it.

Same here - Clyde wah, fulldrive, PlimSoul, mini deja vibe, and OCD. Flawless performance over 10-15 years. Sorry to hear about the bad experience with customer service. Fortunately I’ve never had to use them.

He does make some good effects. At one point my board was pretty much all Fulltone minus a tuner.

Mike Fuller has an abysmal customer service reputation. A practical work-around is—Do Not Buy Direct from Fulltone! Who needs the grief?
Purchase his products only from reputable local dealers, or nationwide big-box music retailers (like Sweetwater, or Musicians Friend, etc.) that have a solid reputation for good customer service. They will likely make it right for you with little to no hassle. Let them deal with Mike Fuller!

Well, after 2-3 different techs emailed me asking if I had cleaned and de-maged the heads and adjusted the tape arm tension, they finally granted me my wish of sending the unit in.
$25 for labor including cleaning, demagnetizing and adjusting the record heads and $150 shipping it's back and working perfectly.
I was told I cannot "adjust the heads" so I guess they will have to do this if ever there's a problem again.
I was annoyed they seemed to want to keep me from sending them work, but I guess if everyone just sent them their unit they'd be bombarded with minor requests.
Long story short, stick with it and they will eventually do great support work....

I too have purchased several FT pedals and currently only have one Plimsoul left. The stories shared above will make me think more than twice about buying any others.
Glad you got your tape echo back and working!
