I purchased a Dr Z 210 cabinet last week with the intention of putting a head I planned on buying on top (non Z head). This is the older 210 that has the speakers side by side and is rectangular, only about 14 inches high. I am not sure of the vintage, but still in like new shape. My brother plugged his amp into it and I was in awe! Fast forward a week and I am now on the verge of buying a Dr Z Maz combo and decided I was going to sell this cab. However, I think I really lucked into it and now think I will keep it. I may have enough $$$ left to also buy either a Z28, Carmen Ghia or Therapy head. All are advertised locally. I am leaning towards the Z28 after the many You tube videos I have seen of each. Do you think it would be a good setup or should I be thinking of 12" cab?

It depends on if you like 10's over 12's. Really just a preference. All of those amps should pair well with both. I know that is not super helpful but....

I run my z28 head through a dr.z 2x10 cab with a 10” gold and stock 10”z speaker. Sounds great

I have my 2x10 Z cabinet set up the same way. I'm using a EZG-50 head to push it. It does sound great!

I use the old-style 210 cab with my Z-28 for the past several years. Sometimes I put a 112 cab in the 'stack' and run both cabs at the same time. Find I lean more towards Stratocasters and LP Specials thru the '28 with 210 cab .... just seems to be what makes me happy Keep the cab - get yourself a Ghia, '28 or Rt 66 .... and have some fun! cheers always Joel

First dibs if you decide to sell it! Dave, we're trying to persuade him to KEEP the cab, not sell it so you can buy it!!! (lol) I have a newer 2x10 with the speakers in the opposite corners and love it. my buddy has the older, smaller 2x10 and loves it. my vote is to KEEP the 2x10. you'll regret selling it down the line.

I vote keep it so you can journey down the rabbit hole of trying different speakers and post about the results on here for us 👍🏼. Plus you can always get a Y cable from Todd at PCNS cables to run it with a 1x12 cab.

Haha!!! This is a great thread, 'cause it prompted me to convert my 1x12 Z cab into a 2x10. A few years ago I bought a 2x10 Z speaker baffle from the BST page here, and I put two of Doc's Special Design 10" drivers in it. I left the center panel open on the back, and it sounds fantastic. I was running a single 12" Gold in it but this is a nice change. My Therapy sounds HUGE through it. I had tried it a few years ago but I had other 10's at the time. With Doc's speakers this sounds fabulous...

Rather than start a new Z 2x10 thread, I thought I'd bump this year old thread to the top. I bought a used convertible 2x10 cab to go with my newly acquired EZG and I'm very impressed. This cab with the Z10 speakers really punches above its weight class. In a blind test, I'd probably think it was a 2x12 except for the immediacy of the 10's response. Great cab.
