So I took my Nova combo (1x12 G12H30) to church this morning and out of habit I loaded up my pedal board. Plugged in my trusty Firebird and had a rockin' fine time. Never once did I hit the pedal board (well, I used some chorus for one tune and my Echoplex EP-3 for others) but my drive needs were totally covered by the Nova's great dual channel setup. Man, the variety of tone available at your guitar controls with a single footswitch to choose clean or OD channels is so much fun. I didn't want to stop playing and got a ton of compliments about my tone after service. People were grinning and saying, "We heard you and you sounded fat and open, nice crunchy rock tone, sounds great!!" It sits in the mix so well.
I love this amp. Thanks, Doc.

I hadn't plugged my gig board into the Nova until the other day. The only "drive" that got used was the boost in the AT+. Like you say, Dave, there is so much there between the "channels" and just adjusting the guitar controls.

I agree guys. I found with single coils I can leave the OD channel on virtually all the time and control the drive using the GV. I still like having an OD pedal available for solos if needed (KOT for now).
Dave.....what settings did you use for the V, OD and Master knobbies?

^^^ Think M needs to be a bit higher, Dave That’s an interesting point. I am just beginning to investigate the Nova. I was wondering, if at that low of a master volume level, the amplifier still maintains its tone? Or are you losing something because you were not pushing more air?

I find the Nova does retain it's tone at lower MV settings, but there is indeed nothing that replaces moving more air! I had mine set at V-11, OD-9, M-noon at our last gig. Sounded great.

But we'll be on some outdoor stages this summer in the parks, so I'll be able to open it up a little.

Yes, still has tone, but something -- taper of volume pot? taper of my ears? -- happens with my Nova at about 10 o'clock on the master that makes the amp come alive. Note that I'm often running with the OD on and using the guitar volume to shade the amount of grit.
