So, I'm sitting here listening to Billy Gibbons's new album, and I'm thinking I need to up my fuzz game a little. What's your favorite fuzz pedal these days? I'm looking for something with a pretty distinctive tone, maybe--not just some flabby, flubby fuzzball. Fat, rich and nasty's what I'm after.

The Monza all gained up has always been my Rev tone machine. To me his fuzz tones retain a lot of nice high end, sort of sharing tonal space with massive overdrive. Lots of mids, really tight with no mud. Of course he uses super light gauge strings so that might contribute to the highs.

I got it a few months ago and the sound quality really varies from track to track. There are a couple that sound really bad. The songs are cool, but the recording not so good. Is yours good? Maybe I got a bad disc, but I don't know how...

I bought this pedal actually got a great deal on a used one. It's really good and cleans up very well. It is germanium but sounds like a silicon it has a fat tone too it it can get pretty nasty its full sounding. I am a fuzz fanatic Its one of the better fuzz pedals that I have come across. Another good one is the King tone guitars mini fuzz. But it runs on a positive tip power supply so you need an adapter for it. I almost bought the king tone again but when I heard this demo Changed my mind and bout the jam fuzz and I am very happy with it. It works like a good fuzz should plenty of good in between tones.

I got it on iTunes and was listening to it on my bluetooth receiver through some decent Polk speakers and it sounded good to me--he does some funky stuff, but I didn't hear any big dips in sound quality. I was listening casually and in and out of the room, though, so I couldn't say for sure.

This caught my attention when it came out, and I decided to take the plunge - should be here in a few days. (The name has changed from Rose Pedals to Spiral Electric FX though - guessing someone else must've owned that name...)

Stone Deaf Fig Fumb is a Muff-derived fuzz with a very cool parametric eq: choose center frequency, boost or cut and control width/Q of the eq. TPS included it in a fuzz demo a couple years ago. I have one and like, although I'm not currently using fuzz on the gig board.

I just ordered a JHS Kilt, V2, which is supposedly an updated take on the Expandora. Since I’m a huge Reverend Billy fan, it seemed like the way to go.

After seeing Gary Clark Jr’s pedalboard, I bought a Fulltone OctaFuzz. It sounds great as a fuzz or an octavia. It is positive center pin, so it requires a reversed polarity cable when used with a VooDoo Lab power supply or its own special Fulltone power supply.

I also ordered a Pigtronix Octava. Demos sound great—it’s an effect you use maybe twice a night to change things up, and the typical Octavia clone sounds pretty harsh and unmusical, but this one’s got a blend control that might make it useable.

I caught this video about the Colorsound Power Boost and modern interpretations and I'm seriously considering getting one. It gets fuzzy at high gain settings, since IIRC it is essentially a Tonebender with more input headroom.
Edit to add: a good example of the sound starts at 18:17

I had that pedal and its very good. I actually had to sell it though to help fund my Z-Master but it is a really good octavia. Nothing harsh about it at all. Plus its small. The Kingtone guitars octaland is the best one I tried though this one is good too.

I just got a Moen Fuzz Moo pedal ordered today, they're cheap and sound GREAT. I couldn't believe it, so it remains to be seen just how good it really is. Sure sounds nice though, check it out. $40 or so...

Flealux, this thread got me thinking I need a fuzz pedal. I don't own one and likley wouldn't use it much but it's always been on my list.
My dealer has a different pedal on sale this week that caught my attention so I reached out to him. We had a discussion about what I wanted. So, I told him I would want one fuzz pedal that would be the "end all" of fuzz pedals (since I'll likely only ever buy one). He recommended this one. It's a little pricey, but I like the high gain mode (which includes and built-in noise gate) and all the tweakability with the voltage knob.
Not sure if anyone here has this pedal but it looks neat. May pull the trigger today.

I have a couple: Bearfoot FX Candy Apple Fuzz
Wren and Cuff Ace Octave Fuzz
The Ace is still on my board, because most of my fuzz is of the octave variety, which the Bearfoot does great, but the Ace does (a little) better. It's a great time to be a gear head!

I've been looking fuzzes half the day.
I don't think there's a rabbit hole this deep anywhere else in the pedal world 😧

The funny part is, I don't have much opportunity to use fuzz at a gig. But it sure is fun to mess with at home!

The funny part is, I don't have much opportunity to use fuzz at a gig. But it sure is fun to mess with at home! The crazy thing for me is I just can't bond with overdrive pedals. I just bought a used Barber direct drive compact and tried it out yesterday and compared it to my Fuzz Phrase and liked my fuzz better. I kind of go for the Gilmore Hendrix type of lead tone though. I ended up returning the Barber. It was nice but I just prefer the fuzz tone its tricky though I spend a lot of time with my guitars volume control dialing it in and out. I can get it to cut through with some nice sustain better than with an overdrive pedal.
