New Maz 18 owner.
My Maz 18 has a Sovtek 5AR4 in it. I have some NOS rectifiers that I use in my HiFi tube amps. I have a NOS Telefunken GZ34/5AR4 (german) and an Amperex Bugle Boy GZ34 / 5AR4 that I have been using in my Swart.
What's the general consensus on using a NOS Telefunken or Amperex in the Maz 18 ?

I think the general consensus is to do what you are suggesting.
I know that I spend a few extra bucks on a nice rectifier, I think most others do as well.

Talk to perryr here on the forum, he sells nice tubes to us. Antique Electronics has good service. KCA Tubes is another one that we frequent.

Telefunken is likely a Mullard, probabl6 has f32 etched in the glass near the base, and plates with 4 or 7 notches down each edge.
The Amperex/Bugle Boy is likely the same Mullard made, f32 etc.. BUT, it could also be a late 50’s Holland made, smooth plates, double d getter, my favorite rectifier for combo amps.

BTW, I should have noted that if they are Mullards, which I would guess that they are, that is as good as it gets and a great choice for any quality tube amp requiring a reliable and top performing GZ34.

I did not purchase the tubes on Ebay. They are NOS from a reputable dealer. (AES - Antique Audio) The Telefunken GZ34/5AR4 says Make in Germany on it. It has a date code F32 - B7C1 printed at the base and 60171 on the side. It has the Telefunken logo intact It looks exactly like this , so it's almost certainly a Mullard. www.tubedatabase.co/tubes/telefunken-gz34-5ar4-f32

Ya, B7C1 would be Mullard, Blackburn Plant, 1967, March, 1st week. Pretty sure that’s how it would decode.. definitely a Mullard.
So how about that Bugle Boy, any codes on it?
