Just wondering what Fender amp would you compare the Z-Lux too?

Same, DR/steroids with better definition and a three dimensional quality. Better trem. Modern features.

Hmmmm... Running the 5881s, I'd say more of a Pro Reverb mixed with a Vibro King (if dialed in properly).

My favorite amps on amplitube are the vibroverb and vibroking. I wanna get my 5881 powered z lux to come close to those tones live, but its gonna be loud. I think you have to turn the master all the way up and get the volume up to half way, at least.

I'd say a Super Reverb...through a 12" speaker. I used to run my Z-Lux like this and did alot of comparisons side by side. The Z-Lux has way more low end girth (in full power mode) than a Deluxe Reverb. The Super is a real 1964.

Yeah--it's what a Deluxe Reverb should be but isn't. I played my Lester through a silverface Deluxe at a jam a couple of nights ago, and while it wasn't terrible the top end was pretty ice-picky and there wasn't any bottom-end thump at all--even running through a really good dirt pedal I'd brought along. I would've tweaked it a bit but there was a lot going on and the way the setup was, the bass player and a horn guy were both standing in front of it on a tiny stage, so I couldn't get to it. Then after we finished our set, the next act had an SRV-ish Strat guy running through it and man, it was so bright I thought my ears were gonna bleed. The kid had some decent chops--although all straight out of the SRV how-to videos on YouTube--but that tone about made me want to smash that Deluxe with a bar stool. The Z-Lux is nothing like that. At full power with MV and V around noon it's got some serious authority. Set the T at about 11:00 and you get nice rounded highs and rich harmonics in the upper mids. If they weren't so dang expensive now I'd probably buy the last of the red/ZW models to match my first one.

Zlux I bought The zlux to be lil bro to the super! Both great amps!

I wish there was an IR or plugin for the z lux so i could compare it to the great tones i get out of blackface fenders on amplitube. That way i could play it loud at home and play with the eq. It might be a little to much for me, as i cant turn it up even at fairly loud clubs.

The Lux is versatile, with the half power and a great master volume. I use mine all over the place.

I am not a big fan of preamp overdrive. To me it doesn't excel until that master is 3/4 the way up and volume more to taste. With a tube screamer in front with gain low and volume up high it gets pretty dang loud. Using the preamp volume knob to get your overdrive and keeping the master down sounds unnatural to my ears.

"I'd say a Super Reverb...through a 12" speaker." Isn't that a Pro Reverb? Eh, a Pro is two 12's and doesn't have the same 'umph' as either the Z or the Super. Bigger iron, I guess...

Along with Zinky's genius, the huge iron on a Vibro King is one of, if not THE, secret to its greatness. I've had several buddies who have known me for decades say I sounded my best through my Vibro King and Nocaster, but that the Z-Lux is damned close.
