On Z combos, they all come with clip speaker cables. Can you solder directly onto those clips or do I need to get a different cable with bare ends to solder to the speaker?

Are you asking if you can solder the existing connection of the wire to the clip, the clip to the speaker terminal, or both? Curious as to why you'd want to do that, because as long as the connections are tight there's no reason to solder them. But to answer your question, every speaker terminal I've ever dealt with is solderable. If you do just solder the wire to the connector, be sure to get all the flux off the connector; over time it'll develop a high resistance joint.

Yeah solder the existing connection of "clip to clip" as is stock- just with solder on it. Sometimes those clips can have a tendency to come undone when i'm plugging in my air-brake at gigs, then i have to kneel down, tilt the amp over and re-attach the clips on a tiny stage with 5 minutes to show-time. It's just trying to avoid some agita. .

Try tightening the clips on the wire side - squeeze the clip down a bit with some needle nose pliers. Mine are all quite tight to where you have to work them onto the speaker side tab. They ain’t going nowhere.

That's exactly what I do, and I do it every time I pull one off the connector. Just a little squeeze at the back end (you don't want to close down the front!) and it stays nice and firm. No problems. I used to solder everything until I learned how to gently tension the clips.

Squeeze the clips a little bit like the other guys mentioned. You can colder them but I then you have a hassle if you ever change the speaker.
If needed use a pair of pliers, it doesn't take much.
