I just traded the tele that first got me hooked on teles for another tele. For many years I never got what all the tele fuss was about until I played a 97 CS Nocaster up at my local brick & mortar. After a number of trial runs with it I finally broke down and bought it. Four years and a number of teles later, I found one that made me want to trade it in (only because I couldn't afford to own both of them). A 69 paisley like James Burton played with Elvis. A bit over the top compared to the blackguard Nocaster, but I had to have it. I hope I don't regret it down the road but I was unlikely to run into one of these again, and I love paisley guitars. The two are quite different animals and I kind of feel like I dumped the high school sweetheart (I never had) for Jennifer Connelly. Should I keep the ashtray cover on it or leave it off? Seems like it has enough going on without the chrome cover.

Looks amazing ! I’ve never played a guitar with the ashtray.....might be fun sometimes for subtle tonal changes and feel.

Holy cow... a real-deal '69 paisley? No sir, you will not regret this down the road. You went from lucky to even luckier.
As far as the ashtray--meh, leave it off; unless showing the guitar off for display, then it's cool to see on there.
