Picked it up, got it mounted on the mini board, had a couple hours with it today. Its supplying the dirt for my Z28 1x12 combo, with a Scumback H75 65 watt speaker, set to 10-10-11 with the Z Brake Lite on 2 clicks.
Its excellent, exactly what it's supposed to be. A preamp overdrive which creates 2 additional channels for my single channel Z28. Its EQ is awesome! I added treble, added a slight bit of mids and cut a good bit of bass. The speaker has tons of bass so this works great in offsetting this. I set the green channel to low gain, bass cut up, unity volume, and the red channel to more gain, more volume, bass cut down. I did try it the other way around, like this better. The bass cut switch are what makes this pedal work IMO. Is it perfect? Having small separate TMB controls for each side like the Suhr Eclipse and a 3 way stack-off-stack switch would absolutely make it PERFECT! But its darn good as is. Honestly sounds like it's part of the amp. I'm gonna add a one knob clean boost after it so I can bump each channels volume up for leads where I dont want more gain, and for a no Z Drive clean boost.
Excellent, incredibly amplike overdrive pedal!

Glad you like it. For me, if it had the Green channel on BOTH sides I would have kept it. I found that had enough eq. I would have been satisfied to have two different settings of that same channel on tap. A switchable pre/post boost would be nice too.

I ordered the CAE one knob boost/line driver. It's actually true bypass and very transparent. Gonna put it right after the Z Drive as a volume boost. I also ordered a Mad Professor Electric Blue chorus, strictly for its faux Vibratone sound. Its digital, so hopefully no white noise/hiss like every analog chorus I've tried. So the whole rig will be: -guitar> -Wilson wah -Z Drive -CAE Booster -Chorus -Carbon Copy delay -Strymon Flint -Z28 1x12
Powered by a Cioks Adam. No room to add anything. Nothing I dont need. No significant upgrades out there.

Good news that you like it! I may get one soon. I suppose it's about the same as a fulltone fulldrive. I've been looking for a comparison. It would probably be a good fit with my EMS?

I'm a BIG Fulldrive2 fan. I have 2 right now. I have a 1998 with the push pull comp cut, and a 2005?? With the CC>FM>Vintage mini toggle. Both pre mosfet. The 1998 is my favorite OD ever, ive had it 20 years! I didnt like the FD3, and found the mosfet versions too bright and fizzy. If you get one, these are the 2 to get. With the Z28, I only like an FD2 in compcut mode. The FD2 has the mid hump(which I like) but in the mid heavy Z28, it's too much. In a BF Fender, its magical. I dont know the EMS, but if its straight up mid forward, the FD2 could be too middy. Compcut is like a loud, dirty clean boost and it's awesome. I like the Z Drive better with the Z28 due to the 3 band active EQ. It allows you to fine tune it much more. I dont think it has considerably MORE gain, but with that EQ, I can see being able to make it work with ANY amp. Good news that you like it! I may get one soon. I suppose it's about the same as a fulltone fulldrive. I've been looking for a comparison. It would probably be a good fit with my EMS?

I liked the Z drive but wished it had eq for both channels, I could always get one or the other sounding just like I but never both.

Just now saw this. I only play the Z Drive in front of a strat or tele. Z28 set as such: strat=11-11-11, tele=10-10-11, Brake Light on 1 or 2. Green and red channel drive and level set roughly the same, drive 12-1 o'clock, level @10. Mini toggle up for green, down for red. T=2:30, M=1, B=10 o'clock. Preferred settings with Z-28 and Strat/Tele/Paul? Cheers always Joel

If the ZDrive had 2 sets of TMB controls, and was stackable with green/red order switching capabilities, it would TRULY be the ultimate dirt peddl! I liked the Z drive but wished it had eq for both channels, I could always get one or the other sounding just like I but never both.
