Hi folks,
New guy here!
For those of you who own or have played through a Nova, would you say the tones on display in this Premier Guitar video review accurately reflect what you hear from the amp? I have been researching the Nova so this was a timely video.
Thanks in advance!

Hi folks, New guy here! For those of you who own or have played through a Nova, would you say the tones on display in this Premier Guitar video review accurately reflect what you hear from the amp? I have been researching the Nova so this was a timely video. Thanks in advance! Hi dukeh62, Welcome to the forum. I can unequivocally say no. Unfortunately, despite our best efforts, we sent an early production model to premier guitar to meet their publication deadlines, and this particular amp does not have the current configuration of effects loop in it. Despite communicating to John that some digital effects with particular buffers did not play well in the early loop and that we had since added a the Metropoulos Zero Loss FX loop in the current production amps to correct this, John assured us he didn't have a problem in this first look video. I think you can hear, this is not the case, and this was overlooked without our approval, despite our warning. The pedal he used in this demo is being overloaded and is inhibiting both the clean headroom and distortion of the amp. I want to assure you that all production amps now come with this new Metropoulos FX loop, and if you bought an amp that ever sounded like this, it would not be operating correctly and would be covered by the warranty. Current production amps do not have this problem. Matt's Music Center, Lance Keltner, and Dave Baker have all done videos of this amp that we can say accurately reflects the sound of this amp.

Hi Frankie,
Ugh...that's awful. Sorry to hear that. Hopefully you can get them to pull the video.
I appreciate the insight. Like I said, I've been very intrigued by the Nova, and have seen the other videos. This one made me stop in my tracks a little bit. Your explanation confirms why.
Thanks again, and I hope you guys can get PG to work with you on this one. It seems like a great amp.

Please listen to Dave Bakers and Lance Keltners demo of the NOVA for a more processed varied tone.

I listened to the video a couple more times, and for the most part it sounds like a very authentic Tweed based tone. Just at the end aprox 16:20 with the PRS and the amp cranked does the mic and board get WAY over driven and you hear them distorting in not to pleasant way. Remember these are what they call gorilla tests, pull it out of the box and blast away, very little if any editing or processing of the recorded sound, raw as it can get.

That sounds nothing like my Nova, especially toward the end as Doc points out. Mine's full, warm, clear and articulate. Awesome amp!

EDIT: I've said this before but it bears repeating. No pedals required. It's got every tone in it that I need, from sweet cleans to nice growling overdrive. All at the touch of my guitar controls and the channel switch.

Lance's video is what makes me keep coming back to the Nova. THAT is a great demo and it makes me want that amp soooooo much. Dave's Demos are always fantastic too. I think having them both do demos is a great idea!

An amp should never be demoed with any pedals. Period.

This amp reminds me of the old Galaxie, except...more.

This amp reminds me of the old Galaxie, except...more. Well it should. The Galaxie fathered the NOVA. Made some tweaks and brought the design back to life. Z

The Nova is the son from another Galaxy (Galaxie) I’ll affectionately call mine “Luke Tonemaker” 🎸🥴👍🏻
