First let me say that I've never bought into the whole thin skin marketing hype as it relates to tone. So here comes the pathetic tale. In anticipation of eventually moving into a smaller home, I recently sold two of my old Fender amps and a nice 335. So I'm sitting on this stash of gear related funds for almost a month feeling like I've done the mature thing (can you tell where this is going yet?). Anyway, I have an admitted weakness for Fender offsets, especially with matching headstocks and I have been very satisfied with my Dakota Red refin 64 Jag when a Seafoam Green 62 AVRI Jag shows up locally. Its a thin skin model with the 9.5 radius and 6105 frets. I cave completely and buy it. Ok, no big deal I tell myself. I'm even up on the number of guitars and ahead on funds and floor footprint. Still feeling pretty good about being a responsible gear head. Two days later a thin skin AV65 Jazzmaster in Charcoal Frost comes up on CL. Same 9.5 and 6105 specs plus it already has a Mastery bridge installed. You know what comes next. I'm such a weak and foolish bunny. edited to add.... No buyer's or seller's remorse.

They look great, love the bound neck on the charcoal. Is that their channel bound?

And here I thought I was going to hear a tale of emotional failings. It's all good. No strife in this story. Nice finds. Congrats. Lookin good.

Love it! Feel good, and know that you've encouraged me to take a crazy 3 day road trip to buy some vintage gear!

Regardless, it’s awesome. And with the others you have a great looking pack, enjoy them. Life’s short.

Man, you had a great week then! Congrats! And color me jealous! (if you see a blue and gold Ford F-150 with Oklahoma tags, lock up that Jazzmaster, cause that would mean I finally snapped)
I had ALMOST the same experience except my lack of funds kept me from doing it. I went to Guitar House Vintage & Rare here in Tulsa, they had a Custom Shop Nocaster that I absolutely fell in love with, and a '91 Custom Shop Firebird, black with this crazy gold pearl pickguard and plate on the headstock and looked even cooler cause it was the previous owners #1 so it had some nice wear. Both at a great price, but I like my house so mortgage is a little more important than 2 MORE guitars. But I'm selling a couple pieces of gear so we'll see... (foreshadowing???)
There were a few things I think you woulda liked. One thing in particular was that this local collector had sold the shop a big portion of his collection, of which included a matching set; 100% stock original matching '67 Jazzmaster & Jaguar in Candy Apple Red and in EMACULATE condition. Sold as a set only!

Sold as a set only! Thanks. I like CAR (especially after it has yellowed\oranged out) so I would have loved to see a picture of that pair. I did the vintage JM\Jag thing a while ago but in wonderfully greened out Lake Placid Blue, both with matching headstocks. After about a year, I realized: - I had almost all of my guitar and amp funds tied up in two guitars
- I found better playing (but not looking) examples of both guitars
I sold them and have not regretted it, but the greened out LPB is still my favorite vintage Fender custom color. Don't currently have one in the stable though. PS: I'll keep an eye out for the truck.

Well, after having the Thin Skin 62 AVRI Seafoam Jag for only a few months, I came to realize that while it was a very nice Jag, it didn't measure up side-by-side to the red 64 refin. It went on it's way yesterday along with my 62 Brown Princeton in trade for the 83 CS 335 on the left.

Thanks. I missed having a 335 more than I thought I would and having two Jags (while fun for a few months) made the AVRI expendable when this 335 became available..

What amp do you like with the Semi-hollow body guitars that you have? What style do you play Hi Purple, I'm now down to four amps. A 61 Brown Super, a 64 BF Band Master, a Z-28 head and a Therapy head. All of these are pretty much in the late 50s to early 60s tweed\brown\blonde\BF Fender camp. Can't say I have a favorite with the 335. It is my only semi-hollow. The others in the pic are fully hollow. About 5 years ago, I kind of moved away from clean blues (BB King, Ronnie Earl, etc) to almost exclusively chord melody jazz, Bossa Nova, and surf. While I like listening to hard rock and heavier blues, I've never had the desire to play them. My playing is pretty much 100% clean with no pedals except a Flint because none of my amps have built in reverb (adds too much gain) and only two have trem. I guess I picked up the guitar too late in life (49) to have wanted to go down that R&R road.
