I have a couple of questions about the Timmy pedal.
1. The current cost of a new Timmy pedal is $129.
a. Why would people try to sell a Timmy pedal for $150 for a non-handwired pedal?
b. Are certain version's coated with dust?

I'm confused too. I see them listed on Reverb for a lot more than $150. Special colors, V1 and such. Ridiculous. It's a great pedal for what it does. Low to medium dirt. Stick with the $129 version.

I think people try to take advantage of the supply/demand of the Timmy pedal. At times, the pedal is sold out so people like to profit off of that. Years ago the pedal was harder to get compared to today. Usually you can find a retailer that has new ones in stock.
The purple Timmy is the original circuit. I believe there are other color Timmy’s with a slightly different chip. I believe the surf green one from Humbucker Music has this different chip. Both sound great. Just depends what you like best.

They are not hand wired? The Timmy is one of my favorite pedals. You can usually find new ones available if you look hard enough, even when they are ‘out of stock’ at certain retailers. And be careful where you buy from. Most do not charge an additional shipping fee, however, certain retailers will charge. Humbucker being one of them. I’ve had one in several different colors. They all seem to sound similar, if not the same. There was something about different sounds based on the different op-amp installed. I believe Paul puts a socket in the build so you can swap them out if that’s your deal. Some retailers request certain color/coating combinations and call them “exclusives’, but in reality they are all basically the same. I agree that people are taking advantage of the ‘out of stock’ situation. Unfortunately it happens, and unfortunately people buy them. But that’s the same as everything else. I also agree that it’s calmed down a bit. I think there are so many new options out there that it takes some of the hype off and lowers the willing purchase price of everything these days. For anyone looking, here’s two new Timmy pedals available right now. $129 shipped. I have found one that is supposed to be new, purple with Timmy written in pink, no toggle switch for $81 dollars from what I think is a reputable dealer. Awful tempting.....

Wow, I listened to the Soundclick OP Amp matrix. That is too much info to decide what sounds good for that pedal and riff. But it sounds good overall.

Same thing happens with the Sunlion from Analogman. 300ish new but I see people selling them for 450 plus on reverb.

Totally agree. One of THE few pedals 8ve bought new. Twice I think I'm on at least my second Timmy (but I might be on my third?) and I had a Tim somewhere along the line, too. Have come to my senses and do not intend to get rid of my current pedal, though. Granted, it's not my #1 go-to low-gain pedal, but that doesn't matter--it's a gem among the pedal world, very well-made, and not worth being without.

That ones a bit different, just like the King Of Tone. There a waiting list. I've been on the KoT waiting list for a year now, will buy one when my name comes up, and if I dont immediately love it, I'll sell it for $100 more than I paid to someone who dont want to wait 18+ months Same thing happens with the Sunlion from Analogman. 300ish new but I see people selling them for 450 plus on reverb.

They have had a toggle switch for some time now so I'd have to question how "new" it really is. The version 1 had dip switches inside. The toggle switch replaced those so you can get the same sounds. Yes that is temping. The toggle switch is something that I have left at the same setting since I found which one I liked so you don't need ready access to it.

^^^^ What zpilot says. I bought both my Tim and Timmy back when Paul was working at Heritage - when they were making amps as well as guitars. He was building the pedals in the evening after he got off of work. The Tim was more labor intensive so that's why he started making Timmy's. When he left Heritage he started making the Timmy pedals in larger batches, which caused him to go to a circuit board setup instead of hand wired. I love both my Tim and Timmy pedals, but it does make me wonder if there is a sonic difference between the circuit board and hand wired since I see a lot of the newer ones on Reverb for sale. Just an observation!

Zpilot, I think I will do some checking on it tomorrow. Maybe it's a "closet classic" at some Mom & Pop store. Or it may be a hacker. The website looks legit.

I did do a op amp shoot out myself and one might sound better than another in a different pedal...but ti/lm 1458 won in overall natural tone for me...and oh yeah I do get tired of seeing these over priced on reverb...I guess if want it that bad...

I tend to rotate between the Timmy, Greer Lightspeed and Crowther Hotcake. If I had a bigger board I'd likely have all three on ...
I. Can't. Make. Up. My. Mind!

I’m gonna ruffle some feathers here but I would choose the Tumnus Deluxe over the Timmy if I could have only one. I need to spend some more time with it still as I’ve only had the chance to play it for less than an hour. I do like the eq adjustability on it but wish the knobs weren’t reversed. I enjoy using just a touch of gain with the Timmy as it seems to add pick sensitivity as it’s increased. There’s a couple clipping options on the toggle to choose from but I haven’t gotten into that far (I’ve been leaving it in the upmost position).

No feathers ruffled here...you either like or not...when I tried first timmy...it wasn't a immediate bond...sold...went back to a standby...second time around it was like I got what it was about...reversed pots and all...Its a pedal I can leave on all the time and just use vol and give me some crunch/breakup...Live is the truth teller....
I have green non re also and kind of prefer old....tumnus is great pedal and if just one...feel no way mahn!

I have the model ordered with the reversed pots. I have two of the Tumnus mini, but they get really bassy, and I hadn't gone down the Deluxe Tumnus Road. Thanks for the results

You’re probably right in that I’ll need some more time with the Timmy before making any bold proclamation on it. I do intend to use it as an always on pedal though. It was between the Timmy and the RC Booster V2. Truth be told I’ll probably order that too and see which I like best.

It would be my second round with the RC

I love the Timmy as a light to medium overdrive with my gretsch. I don’t think I’d ever sell mine! Been loving the snouse black box 2 with my Suhr Classic t. The RC and Timmy do the clean boost thing really well, but the RC does not have as much gain as the Timmy and the gain sounds are more grainy. The Timmy’s gain structure is more pleasing to my ears through my setup. The two stages of boost the RC provides are so usable. I can do the tele fattening thing with the first gain stage and boost for solos with the second gain stage. Very nice tool!

The RC is not really meant to be a dirt pedal. The Tim/Timmy is. It really shines as low gain grit. Take a very clean amp and then dial in just a hint of OD with the Tim. That is my base tone. I leave it on for most of the stuff I do. Like I was playing a BF Fender on 5 or so. Then I push it with a TS type pedal for lead work. Right now I'm using a Clarksdale. I turn off the Tim when I need to clean up a bit for faux steel or jazzy neck pickup tones. It's not a Marshall-in-a-box pedal. I have another pedal I use for that.
If I did not have a Tim I would opt for a Wampler Euphoria. I think it is another great "transparent" overdrive. Maybe as good as the Tim and a little more versatile.
