I just watched the 2014 video "All My Friends: Celebrating Gregg Allman" filmed at the Fox Theater in Atlanta. I was really impressed with the "house band" guitarist that was standing back just in front of the drummer stand, playing a sunburst Strat. He has dark hair, a big nose, and a big white mustache. Does anybody know who he is? It'll probably be an "Oh, duh!" moment but I can't name him.
Really strong player, great leads and a very impressive slide player too. Who is he?

Jack Pearson? If so, a phenomenal guitarist.

there's a lot of footage of him playing with other "hot" guitarists - Jack is very unassuming but a spectacular player. He plays Squire Strats! Note: watch some of the "names" take a look and smile when Jack takes a solo - even Audley Freed has to tip his hat to the "quiet fella" on another note: www.vvtamps.com/portfolio/jack-pearson-signature/

Jack Pearson was playing a $100 Squire - stock. At that gig. Yep, a Bullet at that. He says he never even plugged it in at the store when he bought it. It resonated fine so he was sure it would sound great plugged in. What does that tell us about gear? Although I was on the 2nd row I couldn't see what he was plugged in to, but it appeared that most of the amps were rental backline Fender RIs. All that, and even though he was playing a Strat instead of a Les Paul, if you closed your eyes during some of those slide parts you could easily have thought you were back in the days listening to Duane. And that's coming from a guy who heard them both live!

And he's no slouch himself. He just kept looking at Jack and smiling You could almost see him shaking his head in disbelief. It reminded me of the "Black and White Night" Roy Orbison special many years ago when Springsteen kept looking at Roy and smiling as if to say "where is that coming from?".

Jack Pearson and Audley Freed as a “house band” is as good as its ever going to get. The only thing that comes close is Audley and Warren Haynes at the Skynyrd tribute show...

Yeah, it seems that whenever Don Was is the MD on a show of that nature Audley and/or Jack get the call. You're 100% right, it gets no better!
