Hi all, I brought my Zlux home from church last week to do some tube clean up and general maintenance. I decided to bring my NOVA up this week for Sunday service rehearsal, after all, its bright RED and looks very festive!! Not only does it look great on stage it also sounded fantastic! I had the master and clean volume set at 10 o'clock and the overdrive set at 11 o'clock. I had my pedal for the overdrive handy and really like what I could do. I have been using my Telecaster alot lately and was able to get some great sounds that fit the songs very well. Two songs stood out for me. "My Soul Magnifies the Lord" by Chris Tomlin. I was able use some reverb and a little delay from my pedal board along with the clean channel on the Nova. Nice clean sound with a touch of Tweed hair on it. Plenty of sparkle and just very nice sounding for that song. I hoped on the drive pedal to add some overdrive for the bridge and chorus and it really filled in the song nicely. The other song that stood out was "Joy to the World (unspeakable Joy)". If you have never heard this song, its a great Christmas song and has a great guitar line hook in it. I used the overdrive on the NOVA for this song and hit my clean boost just a little bit. It gave a great hot amp sound with a really cool overdrive. I was able to back off on my pick attack and clean up when I wanted and when I dug in . . . OH BOY! I honestly wasn't expecting to like using this amp at church. My Z Lux has been so stellar that I did not think I could top it. With the overdrive pedal and master volume on the NOVA I had new ways of boosting and changing my sound without using my pedal board. I think is sounded great and really fit the songs. The only down side in all of this . . . I miss having my NOVA at home . . . . Merry Christmas, Todd

Merry Christmas, Todd I'm thinking about putting a pedal board together that has no overdrives (!) on it just for the Nova. I've gigged it 5 times this month for Christmas shows and I haven't used a pedal board at any of them, just the Nova channel switcher. Like you say, it's got so many ways of getting tones from it just from its great touch sensitivity, guitar volume and tone that you just don't need overdrive pedals. And I'm an OD pedal junkie! It's an incredible amp.
Last night several band members came up to me and said "I don't know what you've been doing back there but it sure sounds great!" I had my Volume at 11:30 and the OD at 9:00. Got comments from the audience too. The Nova is just a stellar amp, I love it.
