Edit! This is a Tumnus Deluxe. As some of may have seen from Mark's Thread about the RC Booster ( ztalk.proboards.com/thread/80623/npd-rc-booster?page=1&scrollTo=890038), I'd been looking at both the RC Booster and the Tumnus. I ended up going with the Tumnus just because I wanted the buffer and the Mid control. I got it about an hour ago and wanted to convey my first impressions of it. The only amp I have out right now is my Cure. It is currently set V: 2; T: 2; M: 10; B: 9:30; MV: 10;30; L: to taste. I set the Tumnus for B: 12; M: 1:30; T: 1:30; L: 2:00; Gain: 9:30, the gain switch set to Normal, and the buffer on. I was really just looking for a boost with a little Meds and Treble added, and just a touch of gain. I was using my new ES 339. I was surprised when I turned it on. It seems to put the guitar right where it needs to be for a boost. It made the guitar just sing on both pickups. It put just enough clear gain (and mids and treble?) on the low strings that they didn't sound muddy at low gain. I've not tried my Les Paul or any single coil guitars yet. This just my first impression of the pedal, but I can instantly see why folks like the "K" circuit so much. How can Michael Burks and Warren Haynes be wrong? lol More to come.

Tired my Grosh EletraJet with the electrasonics. It does the same thing. It puts the guitar where it wants to be with the mids.

This is fantastic news as mine just shipped today. And is scheduled to arrive Saturday. I can’t wait to try it with the Db4. Any pictures of the pedal next to the amp? Every thread needs pics lol

BTW, I put the Les Paul through it and it roared at the same settings. I have to get the Therapy out!

Congrats on a fine pedal, Russell! I've got one too, and it's a killer, unique sound.

I had an interesting thing to happen to the Tumnus today. I decided to send Wampler an email. Below is the email. Have any of you had something like this to happen with your Wampler pedals? I'm not knocking the Wampler. I know they are a good company.
"Hey,
I just wanted to run this past you. I bought a Tumnus Deluxe on Saturday (Dec 15) and all was well with it until today. I was playing through it and then turned it off and then back on and the LED started blinking. It would not engage or disengage until I removed the cables. Once I inserted the cables, it worked again until I tapped the switch again and the LED started blinking again. This went on about 5 times. I decided that perhaps I needed to change the battery. I did, but I couldn’t get the pedal to work with the new battery (Duracell). I opened it back up and placed the Wampler battery back in and closed it up. It worked again and I’ve not had any additional issues.
I thought this was something that I needed to share with you. Thoughts?
Russell Beatty"

Wow. They responded within 5 mins. I basically need to use a power supply.

Wow. They responded within 5 mins. I basically need to use a power supply. Is that because the battery doesn't supply enough current? If so, a NiMH battery might work for you. That type of battery will supply a higher current than other types and is rechargeable.

I must be missing something. They designed and built the pedal to use a standard 9v battery or power supply. Also included a battery but you can't use it that way?

You can, but the pedal doubles the voltage. As a result, the battery runs down 5x faster.

All I have to say is “WOW”! The Tumnus Deluxe did exactly what I was hoping for and more. The eq adjustability works beautifully! I’m not using it so much as a boost as I am a tone shaper/emhancer/eq adjuster and it works like a charm. I have a top end chime/clarity that when deselected instantly goes away and is very noticeable without the pedal on. Love this thing.
