New to me. Just bought a lightly 2016 Maz 8. Blonde tolex with a Cream Back speaker. Been messing around with the settings to get more bottom end out of it , in general, and overdrive at low volume - without using a pedal. Any recommended settings (pics) would be appreciated.
Thanks!

Welcome to the forum! The Maz 8 is a wonderful amp with a lot of tonal options. If you look up doctorice here on the forum, he has a link at the bottom of his profile with settings for the Maz 18 - those should carry over to the 8 as well just for reference. With the EQ bypass, the 3 or 8 watt setting, along with the master volume, you can dial in a lot of tones depending on your own style. Also, by increasing the bass or treble you get more gain. I also use a Creamback with mine which allows for more headroom in the 3 watt setting (which I have been using more lately). I would also invest in an extra EL84, or even better yet, a 6N14N (from Perry here on the forum) since it is always great to have a backup. Enjoy your new Z and post your observations as you start your journey! edit - Mike's (doctorice) Maz 18 settings michaelgiliberto.com/Page_2.html

The settings at 1:34 in the vid might be a good place to start. Kinda what I use on my 8 head.

I love mine too, and I'd add to the recommendations above if my brothers hadn't already said it! I've got a Z-12 speaker in mine and it sounds great. The 6N14N tubes from Perry are the way to go. They really last.

Welcome aboard.
As a general thing, I usually have the Bass control quite a bit higher on my MAZ 8 than on other Z amps with similar front ends. My 8 is in the smaller studio cab and has a Celestion Blue speaker. Let your ears, not eyes, be your guide. For an "old school amp" vibe, put the Master all or nearly all the way up, have the amp in triode mode and engage the eq bypass function. Play around with the volume and cut on the amp along with your guitar controls. Fwiw, I usually end up with amp volume up pretty high so I can use guitar volume to run from cleaner to dirtier.

Greetings Jagman. Welcome to the brotherhood of the Maz 8. If your 8 is very lightly used, the speaker may not be fully broken in. I too have a 2016 Maz 8 with a Creamback. It has plenty of bottom end.
RE: amp based OD at low volume. My Maz 8 came stock with a Russian 6n14n/EL84. I'm guessing yours did too, unless it's been changed out by the previous owner. Most people on the forum seem to agree that the stock 6n14n has the best overdriven tone. Doc used that tube for a reason. I would check to see if your 8 still has the stock power tube.
If you want to maximize amp OD at low volume, I recommend getting a 6n14n from forum member Perry R. Ask Perry for a tube with a Transconductance number of 15 or lower. It will break up at a lower volume.
Re: amp settings for OD at low volume, switch to Triode Mode and dime the Master Volume. Set the Volume knob to controll overall loudness. Keep in mind if you have to play at a very low volume, the speaker may not be pushing enough air to give you good bottom end. Crank up the Bass knob to compensate. Try both Hi and Low inputs. Also consider a Brakelite if you have to play at "don't wake the baby" levels. Good Luck. Let us know it works.
