So I just bought a db4 2x12 combo used for a pretty good deal and it arrived yesterday. I was really on the fence about it because i was buying online and never even got to play one in person. What made things worse was my main amp I was using had problems and I needed something soon to use.
Well I’m glad I made the decision because I got to play it last night at practice and I was beyond satisfied. I mainly look for an amp that you can just plug right into and create so many different textures with just the amps knobs and the guitars knobs. The breakup is very harmonic, rolled back the and it has a nice sparkle to it with a little bite if you dig in.
For the most part of the night I was plugged straight in. I got everything I wanted out of that thing. I brought 4 guitars with me because I wanted to run through them all. A les Paul faded with burst buckets, a fender 52 hot rod with neck humbucker, a Nash strat, and a Gibson es 333. With the amps rotary knob I was able to adapt to any of the guitars to get the tone I wanted. I usually had everything at noon with the cut knob straight up as well.
I thought that maybe the 38 watts at full power would be too much without an attenuator but I felt like it sat in the mix nice just having it at noon and full power. I didn’t even bother with the half setting yet.
So anyways I just wanted to share my first experience with an amp that I play on having for a while. Is it big ? Yes. Is it heavy? Oh yea. But it’s not to the point where it’s impossble to move just alittle more effort. It’s well worth it.
Lastly I wanted to say this is my first post I just joined today and it’s actually the first forum I have ever joined. Reading through this section with your guys threads and experiences kinda help push me into the right direction to buy this amp.
