Ok I bought a used Zlux- looks mint- When the guy shipped it ,it was packed bad and I was worried when I received it. After firing it up it had some bad noise , I sourced the noise to a grounding lug nut that had come loose. But the amp although less noisy was still noisy in my book! - ( I had read that some zlux reverb tubes make noise) so I figured that must be it. Well I only played the lux off and on and the noise always annoyed me, but I couldn't hear it when actually playing.. But now its back at the house in a quiet environment and that thing was driving me nuts!! So after complaining a bit I opened it up - and after 3 hours of fiddling around I found out the volume pot wasn't contacting the chassis , so I tightened it down and the noise went away!! I did however tighten every pot switch every screw and nut on the entire chassis and the noise I had is gone!! ( there is the slightest hiss I believe from the reverb tube.) I dont have the 6201 nos in there, but will be ordering a couple today. But ^ this little hiss is barley there with the amp cranked! Man I am soooooo Happy! So there it is if your amp is making unknown hum- try tightening all the parts!!
