I have a master volume Galaxie that has developed a problem with intermittent static, for want of a better description, its the sort of sound that may come from a bad pre valve connection. I have installed a 12at7 in v1 and a 12au7 in the PI. It sounds wonderful, except for the static, when it occures. Turning the amp off and on will get rid of it for a while but then it comes back. Any thoughts/ideas would be appreciated

Do you have a cell phone on and anywhere near the amp? Near meaning in the same room or next room. If so,put it in airplane mode or shut it off and see if that's it.

If you have replaced all of the tubes I would try reseating them a few times. As well, I would clean all of the input jacks/speaker jacks with contact cleaner in the event there is some oxidation after occurring.

Agree with Keith, sounds like something is dirty. Eeither sockets or jacks.

Havent replaced all the tubes, It had been suggested that a similar problem was a faulty cap so I have given it to a tech to look at. I did do a clean of the pins valves and reseated them a few times, but not now convinced I did enough preliminary work to fix it myself. The tech is having trouble getting to grips with it. Will have to wait until he works his way through it i guess. Thanks for all comments.

Fixed, it was a 250pF 500v cap on V2 letting DC voltage through, took a bit of finding as it was intermittent, but all good now
