I have a 2012 Maz 18 NR combo that I am considering sending in for the master volume and effects loop mod and was wondering if anybody has sent theirs in for the same thing. If so, what is the major difference in the finished product? I love my Maz and the only issue is it is so loud that I have to use a Brake lite with it most of the time, and when I do, it seems to lack the great full bodied tone it has when its really cranked without the brake lite. If I could retain some of the cranked tone without any harshness at lower volume levels, I would be very pleased with the mod. I also play a lot of clean tones and need more bottom end at low volume levels. I have already replaced the power tubes with the ones used in the MKII......great improvement!

It's a great improvement, and from reading your post, you'll be very happy. The improved master volume is incredible. I took my Brake Lite out of the amp after the mod. There are several posts about this mod, use the search function and look around. It's a very well regarded improvement.

I could sell the Brake Lite to help offset the cost of the mod.

You won't regret it. Both my Maz 8 and the 18NR have been upgraded, and I've been more than happy with the results.

Sometimes I am lucky enough to get to crank the master and volume to 2:00 or higher and I cant imagine anything sounding any better than that and as long as I am not giving anything up in that department, I think I am going to go for it.

When you crank the master, it's as if the control doesn't exist, so you lose nothing. What I really love about it is how transparent it is when I turn it down. I don't have to crank the amp above noon now to get the tone I need. It's all there even at 9:00.

I guess I'm lucky. I have a used one, made in 2016, I think. I don't know how I could use this thing at home without a decent Master. Is that why I read about some folks needing a Brake Light? I don't need one the way mine is currently designed.
