I have a 90s Carmen Ghia (with only a single 8 ohm tap), a Maz 38 sr 2X12 combo (with v30 and g12h) and the Mazerati 30th anniversary LE head.
I have an old peavey closed back 2x12 cab loaded with Sheffield speakers. I've been looking around for the do it all speaker combo to load in this cab. It has to be able to handle the power of the Mazerati (38 watts I believe), have a nice midrange presence without being too harsh and cant be an alnico gold or blue unless someone wants to donate them to me. Budget is about 300 bucks or less for the swap.
I've looked at WGS speakers. The vet 30 and reaper seem to be the equivalent to a v30 and g12. They are certainly in the ball park for price and power handling. Has anyone used that set with a Carmen Ghia or Mazerati?
Other options are welcome.
I really just want an open back cab loaded with a v30 and g12h like my maz. I like the sound of that but, I dont have the funds with a baby on the way. Have to work with what I have.

I have been using my Ghia with a Vet 30 for a little bit now and really like it. I'm down to two cabs one has a creamback 65M and the other is a WGS Vet 30. I think I like the Vet 30 as much as the creamback.

Closed back? I know what I'd do....put a pair of WGS Green Berets in there. (Greenback clones) They'll have the nice mid presence you want without being too harsh. A pair wired in parallel will have a power rating of 50 watts.
The greenback (and it's clones) share quite a lot in common with the celestion blue. Less bass, more mids, early breakup, attenuated highs at high volume. (attenuated highs keep it from being fizzy)
