Spent some time with my EMS and my youngest son's Les Paul. He has a tone in his head and I think we found it.
He likes a crisp articulate gain that will still give him some palm muted thump with the E string.
We set the gain on the amp and then started working on the tone controls.
We just couldn't get the thump without adding more base than he wanted.
I opened up the volume control up a bit (from 9 to 11 o'clock). This did get a bit louder but the extra power hitting the greenbacks gave us the thump he was after.
It was nice to be able to spin the knobs for him and he is getting much better at describing what he wants to hear.
Very cool amp

I have been enjoying my EMS as well.
The rectifier or SS mode sure makes a big difference. I have been into the clean tones, still.

The Durocher amp collection is quite impressive, Todd. Which amp are you after next?

The Durocher amp collection is quite impressive, Todd. Which amp are you after next? I think an MKII Maz 38 with the half power switch would be an amazing next amp but that wont be a while. Next up will be converting one of my small chassis amps into a Red 1x10 combo cab with a 10" extension cab in RED.
