I have more amps than I need(but as many as I want.) Many things have changed in my life (nothing bad.) I am considering reducing the number of amps I have(along with other gear.) I know my wife would be happy! One thought was to sell my Z-28 and Route 66 and get a Antidote.
I am a bed room player, with the occasional jam(one of the life changes is I now work the night shift so the jams a far and few between.)
Anyone have experience with all three amps and the pros and cons of each? Will the Antidote cover some of the sounds of both amps? I am also considering a Z-Plus and have posted a thread in that section.
Thanks!

Antidote is a great amp but definitely not a bedroom amp.

Maybe a cure or z-plus?? Z-28 with brake lite does it for me

The Antidote is a stellar amp. Very versatile, but it is very loud. I control it with the airbrake or brakelite. But since buying the Z-Plus, Antidote hasn't seen much use. I sold my RT66 for the Antidote and have bee pleased with my decision. I have set my amp limit to three. Z-Plus on the lower watt end, Ghia as a 18w el84 based machine, but would also consider the Maz18, which I traded in for the Z-Plus. Antidote for when I need the power. I think I have a lot of ground covered with these three. Do I want more? heck yea, but I stick to my self -imposed rule.
Good luck with your decision. Based on your opening comments, if I were in your shoes Z-Plus would be my call.

I would recommend going with a Therapy. The cleans of the Therapy will remind you of the Z28/RT 66 but will add a very nice manageable overdrive.
The best part of this amp is that it has a master volume and will give you real nice bedroom levels.
You can also play around with different speakers to adjust the amp to your tastes.
My 2 cents, Todd
Ps, I have a few Z's and the Therapy would be my desert island amp.

I dunno, man. There’s a thing that the Route 66 does- even attenuated- that is even more intense than a Hiwatt. I might like my ZWreck a hair better, but most of what I play is with single coils. With a humbucker, I don’t see anything hanging with the Route. I haven’t played the Z-28, but I bet it does very nice things about 3db down.
Granted, I don’t have a huge taste for some of the amps that the Antidote is compared to, but I bet it’s great too.

Thanks for all the great feedback. I decided I could not part with any of my Z's. I am selling my Tone King Imperial and my Morgan AC20 Deluxe and I am getting the Z-Plus. My wife loves the 2 for 1 deal and is strongly encouraging me to do more!!

NOT ANTIDOTE. Thats one loud amp. Z-28 with brakelite maxed still is pretty loud although bedroom manageable. In my opinion you need ether the cure or z-plus. Or hey, Im a big fan of 5 watters. Maybe you should get a Toneking gremlin, or a swart ast jr, supro 1605r, Carr raleigH, BENSON VINNY, milkman 5 watt mini stack, ...

Love my 66, love my Zwreck, and the Antidote is kinda like a blend of the 2, tightened up and injected with a big dose of bold. It’s a badass!

All great amps, but Therapy can emulate all three, plus the great master volume. My favorite Z amp.

Other than not being able to emulate the Z-28's character in the clean tones, I agree with everything Todd (pcns) said about the Therapy. I have not tried putting 6V6s in the Therapy though so maybe it's in there somewhere.

Also late to the game. I’ve not had a Route 66, but I’m guessing it’s super loud for bedroom playing. The Antidote is the only amp I’ve ever sold due to being so loud that I couldn’t use it for what I do. The z28 is a manageable loud, but I think the Z Plus decision was a really solid choice. I should’ve pulled the trigger on a red one Guitar Center was selling for $1,400 loaded with a blue. The mistakes we make sometimes...
