I have more amps than I need(but as many as I want.) Many things have changed in my life (nothing bad.) I am considering reducing the number of amps I have(along with other gear.) I know my wife would be happy! One thought was to sell my Z-28 and Tone King Imperial and get a Z-Plus.
I am a bed room player, with the occasional jam(one of the life changes is I now work the night shift so the jams a far and few between.)
Anyone have experience with both Z amps and the pros and cons of each?
I am also considering an Antidote and have posted a thread in that section.
Thanks!

I have a Z28 and a ZPlus (and a Therapy). I’ve had the Z28 the longest - almost 9 years. I love them all but if I had to have just one it would be the ZPlus without hesitation. That single ended tone is amazing, the 7/15 watts gives you tons of options.
I love the Z28 and it rocks, and it’s nice being able to have multiple amps.

U feel like the therapy gets you those z-28 tones? I’ve thought of going for a therapy to replace my z-28 several times. It’s hard to let the 28 go tho

I wouldn’t say the Therapy duplicates the Z28 - the Therapy can rock, but it’s more “refined” to my ears than the ‘28. I tend to run my therapy clean, using KT77 power tubes. I run the 28 almost wide open (3-11-3) with a brakelite. It’s awesome in that role.
But that damned ZPlus is intoxicating - I run it just at the point of “hair” and hit it with OD pedals for big drive. My fav is running it right there with the Strymon Flint for verb and trem - damn is that nice.

Z-Plus... First off, the Z-Plus is one of Doc’s best amps, IMO, and can cover a lot of ground. It’s got reverb for occasions where you might want a little (or a lot), a boost for when you need a little bit more, a loop if you need one, A half power switch AND a master that allows one to get those overdriven tones so many of us are looking for, at home/wife/neighbor friendly volumes. You said you’re primarily a bed room player now and the Plus is great in that situation (and many others). I always wanted a Z28 but the volume was always a deterrent, as I really wanted that cranked sound. When the Z-Plus came out, I knew I had to have one. I don’t think it would be a bad choice. And... there’s a cool red with wreck cloth Z-Plus available at GC for a good price considering they almost NEVER come up used. www.guitarcenter.com/Used/Dr-Z/Z-PLUS-Tube-Guitar-Combo-Amp.gcGood luck!!

I just got my Z-Plus on Saturday and I LOVE IT. It really is one of Doc's best amps. Not much more to say, I'm too busy playing it.

Thanks for all the great feedback. I decided I could not part with any of my Z's. I am selling my Tone King Imperial and my Morgan AC20 Deluxe and I am getting the Z-Plus. My wife loves the 2 for 1 deal and is strongly encouraging me to do more!!
