Arrived and unpacked. Played for about an hour. Impressions: sounds great from the get-go; no struggle to find a sweet spot. Other initial findings and thoughts: Bass and treble have very wide ranges, and have a meaningful effect on amp volume. You can get a very ballsy sound with nice grit just by dialing volume, treble and bass up past 2 o'clock. Use Master to keep the overall output reasonable. You will get sound from just the overdrive section if you turn volume all the way down -- as long as the OD is switched on, of course. The amount of volume "jump" from switching on the OD is a function of where Volume and the tone knobs are set. What I found is that with V up fairly high and OD set low, the volume jump is in "solo boost" territory. Higher levels of OD, especially with V low will produce much more of an increase. On the flip side, with the OD knob all the way down, I found a slight decrease in volume when kicking the OD on. I liked getting a pleasing blend -- there are many -- of V and OD, then using the guitar controls. I think, for me, this may be more effective than relying on stomping on the OD when stepping up to solo. There is plenty of low end in the LT combo. Master up at 9:30 - 10:00 is where the amp comes alive. All comments based on using a Squier CVC Tele. It will be a few days before I get the amp back to my music room and try other guitars...and pedals. I also plan to compare it to the Galaxie.

Mike,
I'll also ask you what I asked Dave to do, please compare it to your Therapy. Of course, since I also own a Galaxie, I look forward to that comparison as well!

Sounds a HELLA lot like the Galaxie EQ interaction with the overall gain structure.

The old and the new. Both sound great. Hoping to do an in-depth a/b listen soon. My Galaxie, as you can see, does not have the MV mod. Presence control intact

Mine is the same! No MV! I have a brake lite in mine.

Mine is the same! No MV! I have a brake lite in mine. I will have to use one for the a/b if I want to try higher gain settings on the Galaxie. That's one of the nice Nova features: MV and presence.

Really interested in hearing the difference between the Nova's mixing the clean and dirty channels vs the Galaxie being separate. By the way, I tried a 65 watt Creamback in mine and I really like it. The amp feels smoother and sweeter.

I would expect them to be very similar on the "Super" clean side. I would think that the big differences would be with the OD, and the Master Volume.

like the lighter brown piping Me too. I asked Doc to use the same colors as the prototype he had at Z Fest. None of my other Zs has this combination: I have a pack of mongrels
