#33 I'm told. Blond with tan wicker. I'm not sure I need this , My #1 is a Dr. Z Maz 18 R. I had a Therapy but traded it for a Tele that I really needed. Still have the tele (a Rick Kelly tele) and to be honest Don't really miss the Therapy with the Maz 18 at hand. I saw this 88 for sale over at TGP. I had a Red Plate Blues Machine that was cool as heck , but I just am not a knob twiddler. Probably why I love DR. Z's simplicity so much. So I traded it with some cash back for me. I've been hearing about this amps legendary status for so long I figured I might as well get it out of my system. I also bought a 100 watt Scumback speaker for my bottom as well. Never thought I'd be getting an amp this loud ever again but I just have to own one for a while so I can say I did. Who knows maybe it will stick? What should I expect? I've done some searches on the amp in other forums. Back in 2014-15 many said they heard this amp would be reissued. Doesn't seem to have occurred. Anyone know why? is it because of the volume ? Bigger amps are just not in Vogue anymore? I have no need for anything over 35 watts in my life. The Maz 18 has fit my bill perfectly. But sometimes you gotta say ……..WTF right? Lol. AND it brought me to join this forum so...…...just waiting on Fed Ex.

Smooth, fat, with authority. Big fist in a velvet glove. Also... that 100 W Scumback should be perfect for it.

Doc was going to re-issue the Delta 88 but instead made some more significant changes and ended up with a new amp - the Surgical Steel. Same basic concepts with some tweaks. The Delta 88, while loud, sounds great at low volumes as well. Some of the best cleans you'll ever hear. But I really like it with a overdrive pedal in front of it. Tone for ever! Have fun and enjoy it!

Yes you can. Just send a pic of the amp to Don at repairs@drzamps.com telling them you need a Z for an amp you just bought. They will sell you one for a very reasonable price.

Pics or it’s a crate powerblock 😂😂 Will do! Hopefully when I get home the speaker is waiting for me. I have a 1x12 for my MAZ 18 but its a rebuilt vintage 30 watt speaker......sounds amazing with the Maz but i wouldnt dare put the Delta88 through it even at low volumes. Just not worth it.......

still waiting . . . . . . . . ha ha! Sorry...…….rough week! I received the speaker Wednesday but I didn't have the time to install it until tonight: I put it in my 2x12 Bob Burt Cab instead of buying another 1x12 for it. Here's a close up: And how she fits in my studio:

Plugged in it sounds Great!! I couldn't open it up at this hour but even at moderate volumes it sounded fantastic. Its different then the Maz of course but in a very very good way. I cant wait to experiment more this weekend! This may be an experiment that becomes permanent!
Oh.....and I ordered the new "Z" for the front. Thanks for that Info!

Got the replacement "Z" from Don.....thanks!
Had a chance to chill with the amp for a bit. What a fantastic amp. I made a wise decision getting it. I dont play it loud , its much cleaner and brighter then the Maz 18. It offers a great alternative....It sounds best with my vintage 95' fulltone fulldrive . I cranked it once and it was truly amazing. Britht and throaty, sustain to die for.but i just dont have the need. Thankfully this amp sounds great at any volume......dont see it going anywhere for a while
