Looking for a high gain pedal and was wondering if anyone had any experience or opinions with theses two? (Really considering the Dirty Shirley but what the heck). Have a fun little gig coming up and need more than the OCD can give AND were considering these two because of clips. Any help would be awesome!

I like the BE OD. I have been using it with my Z-Plus.
Not sure what the difference is in the two, but I was after deep tones.

I found the be od very compressed when I tried it, but it was briefly and a while ago. Ymmv

I don't get that too much with my pedal, or at least I feel like I can flush it out, but the compressed OD tone is not a bad thing either. I just listened to the Dirty shirly vs. the BE OD. Not sure why he would sell both, they are similar, the BE OD has more gain, the DS has a mid knob

The BE seems more “Full Bore” ? I don’t know. Pedals are like grown up Hot Wheels. Just can’t get one... just need it to sound good with a Maz and cover more ground when I’m done.

I had one (BE-OD), bought it for my Maz38 and my EZG. In the end I didn’t like it: too much compression, way too much distortion, too much noise.

It really depends on how you set up your Maz 18. It can be a pretty gainy amp to begin with, so you don't need to hit it with the heavy od and compression of the BE. I've got a DS and it works out really well. The Mid control comes in handy too.

Revisiting this. I bought a be-od a couple of days ago, comparing it to a bogner la grange. Still not sure if I’m keeping it. I haven’t tried it with my Maz yet, only a 5e3 with a blue in it.
At 9 volts only, I’d return it in favor of the bogner. The latter is much more articulate, a bit brighter, and just dynamic.
At 15 volts though, man is it close. The friedman is darker, but the dynamics are better at the higher voltage. Tames the gain as well a bit.
I’m not sure I can justify keeping both, and right now, I prefer the bogner. I got them for the same price used give or take $5. I have until friday to return the friedman.
Also, I set the friedman’s internal gain to its lowest setting. For me, that made it much more useable. At noon, there was sooo much gain even with the external gain basically off, it just was overkill for me. Ymmv.

Just a quick review of the pedal since I found one at a huge discount and had to buy it. First plug in was surprisingly meh. It did take a couple of tweaks from the internal trim pot to have it sit Where I wanted to. Definately a “Clean Amp” pedal with tons of gain and enough Marsh. Overtones to keep me interested. I’m sure if I had a deluxe reverb or twin this would have been an immediate home run. With the trim pot low and gain sounds pretty decent.

I returned it today. For me, the La Grange could cover the same ground and more
